Why has Adobe changed the way the colour picking 'eye dropper' tool works in illustrator 9, or am I doing somthing the wrong way?
In illustrator 8* you could click on a bitmap image on the page and pick up the colour of that part of the bitmap this was very uesful when intergrating bitmap & vector images.
I have upgraded to 9 because (being a web designer) the pixel preview, save for web & RGB colour space are all very usefull features.
So Adobe has either a) changed the way the bitmap colour picker works, and I can't work out the new way. or b) removed this great feature

Hold down shift and click using the Eyedropper tool. That will pick up a color in the workspace.

If you try and pick up a color using this method from a bitmap image, sometimes it won't work ... check the Appearance pallete to make sure the transparency isn't set to -45995% (or something like that). That last bit is a bug, but easily workable.
