Use a vector drawing tool like Illustrator or FreeHand to create logos.

No, you should be saying: "Hmmm, I wonder if I can scrape together enough to pay a *real* designer..."

Buy OSX, install and run MacGIMP.

OR, download and install the free version of CorelDraw. i believe there is a free version, albeit an older version.

I would open a thread saying "design my logo" and have real designers burn their companies time making a logo for you

One of the mac mags this month, mac designer or something, had a copy of freehand 5.5 free on their CD, go to a barnes and nobel where they have a good selection and you'll find it.

if it's not for commercial use, get a bootleg program and use it to your heart's content.

when you get a job or start freelanceing....then pay for it.

Nooooo.... because that is still illegal. What kind of advice is: "Go break the law to get what you want" If you can't afford it you can have it, thats the way it/s(supposed to)works.

i personally use registered products, but students should not be denied access becuase of monetary restrictions. I say learn, use it non-commercially and then when you are making money....buy it.

There are tons of holes in your argument too. If i have photoshop at work, i can spend all day at work working on outside projects. Is this fair to Adobe? Somebody bought it but is it being used under the licensing agreement? Nope. This way when they do become self-sufficent they can make the purchase.

Hey all. This topic seems to have heated up abit since the last time I checked it. First of all godzokie not everyone has a grand to go out and buy the Adobe rip off deal of the week. And to say that if you can't afford it you shouldn't be able to use it is just uncalled for not everyone is as well off as you. Some of us have worked two or three jobs just to buy a computer 2nd hand. so at the end of the month when you have to pay rent, buy food, and take care of whomever else might be in you life, or pay for your Photoshop 6. I think food, shelter and loved one's take priority.... Aside it's only illegal if you get caught....

Gotta agree with the last poster... if my work didn't pay for most of the apps I use, well... heh.

I'd be extremely broke.

It's ridiculous to expect a student to pay for PhotoShop, AfterEffects, Final Cut Pro, and a new computer, etc...

Honestly. If you can't afford it, pirate and use it, BUT, pay for it when you can. Really.
