Ok, I've posted questions about Streamlines future before but now I'm worried...

I have to make the transition over to OS X soon... and sure I have classic but I'm looking for ways to get out of using classic....

Then I used streamline yesterday and realized how awesome it is...

I've asked Adobe about it in the past and they just brush me off... this seams like a great opportunity for a 3rd party company to make a carbon version or a whole new program that does the job...

Adobe could just incorporate it's abilities into Photoshop or Illustrator... but I've never seen anything saying it's in the works

should we start a petition? Does anyone care?

mmmmm streamline. God I love that program. However, I think Streamline is one of those programs like Fontographer. It just can't do its job any better than it does, so there is no point in updating it. Get what I am saying? I'm sure streamline will be incorporated into illustrator eventually, or at least *some* improvement on illustrators auto-trace. But I mean, really, what could be incorporated into Streamline that it doesn't already do and what would be worth a few hundred dollars?

Most of the updates to Adobe software of late have brought the applications more features to aid web designers. Streamline should definitely be updated if only to groom it as a companion piece to LiveMotion! If there is any application in need of companions, LiveMotion is it.

don't you love capitalism?

i guarantee you that adobe will make a carbon streamline.

it's already perfect, they just need to convert it. that means no development. Why do they want to make it? for your MONEY. that's it. They sell it and you buy it for your osx. they only need to make 1 and it's already made. if they dont make it, macromedia will make one. Now they don't want that. losing marketshare is not acceptable.

so purely to make you spend money on it, i guarantee adobe will make one. you know i'm right.

Uhm, have you noticed that streamline hasn't been updated since like 92? Its not even listed on the 'Adobe and OSX' list. I seriously doubt that it will ever see the light of day on X, and if so, not for a few years at least.

(same goes for fontographer)

Streamline is, like wolverine, the best at what it does. I would bet vital parts of my anatomy on Macromedia not even trying to test that.

yes, i believe that it is last on the list. however....listen to what you just said. It last came out on 92 ( i think 4.0 came in 97...not sure though). it is great, that is why it will be carbonized.

I guess if they decide to incorporate it into illustrator, then thats another decision altogether. If streamline is streamline, then therew ill be one last streamline for X.

Although I agree that Streamline should be brought up to date, I don't think the fact that it hasn't been touched by Adobe in almost 5 years indicates that they are suddenly going to bring it up to speed now. It seems more like it has been forgotten along with Dimensions. And though I'm not surprised that people still use Streamline, I am a little surprised that Adobe still sells it considering they evidently no longer develop it. If you want Streamline for Mac OS X, I wouldn't just assume that Adobe's going to grant your wish without it being asked of them — I'd start campaigning for it.

STREAMLINE is GOD, but it's going to take some time. It's like QuarkXPress, if it ain't broken, nobody cares...

We should see a Carbon version with the next major release.... sometime in 2012

Isn't CORELtrace a competitor to Streamline? If so it's carbonized and already available as a part COREL Graphics Suite 10. The problem is: I hate every COREL products I've tried...
