I've just experieced the latest version on a friends computer and we don't like that extra menu bar across the top and we would like to know if its possible to remove it ?
Otherwise we will continue to use 5.5.

get used to it, you cant stick to 5.5 forever. PS6 offers so many new tools and new stuff so that sticking to ancient 5.5 is not an alternative from my perspective

I hated it at first, but now I really miss it when I go to a machine with only 5.5... I think it's great...

This guy is right. I felt exactlly the same way. It cuts down so many menus it ain't funny. That toolbar has made 6 one of the best upgrades for a program ever.

5.5 is still better for some things; I wish I could choose between rubylith and the 5.5 text box, but oh well, I can't.
I never really disliked the toolbar, as I have plenty of real estate (vertically), but now that I'm used to it, I love it

we are digital manipulators of found/created content and not photo retouchers or any other professional/commercial users, therefore space is prime real estate in our work,
we simply wish we could check it 'in' or 'out' in the Preferences !

You can disable the option bar: Menu bar, Windows, Hide Options,
You can also drag the options bar to the bottom or where ever you want it to be.
By the way does anybody know wat the "Behind" mode does?

I assume you mean when a painting tool is selected.
If so, this will convert that tool to paint behind your layer.
ie. paint will only appear in transparent areas as if you were painting on the layer from behind
You can also save space by docking some of the lesser used palettes in the palette well at the right hand side of the options bar where they will hide after use.
