I've got a CanoScan 650U that I'd like to use to scan some slides for use in a PowerPoint Presentation. Anyone know how I can accomplish this??

I ended up buying the Pacific Image film scanner for around $160 on ebay. It scans 35mm slides and film negatives at 1800 dpi... plenty for my application... I'm not sure if Canon makes a film adapter for the Canoscan scanners

You could always use Kodak Photo CD. Drop the slides off at a photo developer and have them scanned to Photo CD. Or do a search for it on the web. About a buck a pop for images and about $10 for the CD if memory serves. You get five different size files of each image. In pixels; 128 x 192, 256 x 384, 512 x 768, 1024 x 1536, & 2048 x 3072. You will probably have to adjust the images in an editing program to get optimum relults. I always open them in Photoshop and adjust the colors, levels, etc.
Turnaround times vary, but I've had them done in a few days.
No, I don't work for Kodak. Just have had some good results with this method in the past. Pretty good bang for the buck.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip. I'll check w/ the local photo shop on it. I'm trying to help a customer of mine prepare a lecture he is giving to the Navy Seal Alumni group in February. These slides should be interesting.

The only way you can do that is if Canon offers a transparency/slide adaptor cover for your scanner. You'll need to check with Canon to see if that's possible. If not, you'll have to buy another scanner, such as the Epson 1650 Photo, or have the slides scanned at a photo shop.
