Hi, I want to print onto a plastic and I want to know what harware will do it. I have a feeling the equipement for doing it is expensive, is it possible to send an image of what I want printed on each side of the card to some kind of online printing service? And they could send me it. Or is there anyone (reading this) that will do it for me, for a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance
Ross

Making fake ID's huh?

The ghetto way of doing it (which is fine for a one-of or mock-up) is to print on clear acetate and adhere it to the surface. I think Avery might even make adhesive clear sheets.

If you are asking about the transparent adhesive labels, go to www.avery.com and do a search on "clear labels". You will get a bunch of hits, and choose the one you want.

Only thing, make *certain* that you choose the right type for the kind of printer you have. Ink jet output will not stick at all to the wrong material, while lasers thoroughly cook others. I once made some beautiful acetate labels on an ink jet, and stroked the labels while marvelling at my genius. Bye bye genius, hello idjit

A color inkjet is cheap, and you just have to be wise about consumables. It's a nice thing to have.

Hmm, cool, when did I get two stars?

<old school idea>You could always screenprint them bad boys!</old school idea>

what kind of plastic are you talking about? Like Milk jug plastic or plastic-like paper lke a mylar? I know for *fact* you can run mylar through a laserjet. just give it a few minutes afterwards un touched so it cools and becomes stiff again (paper gets a little melty) You might want to check a few paper companies, many make plastic-like papers. If its an actual hard chunk of plastic you want to print on, find a screenprinter and go to town. You might be able to find one at a T-shirt shop or something. Keep in mind that good screenprinters are hard to find, much less ones that can pull off *well done* 4 color runs.
