I've wanted to do this for a very long time. I've assembled desktops that I've produced for myself over the past year or two and posted them below...

It's kind of funny to see people say, "Oh they're not that good, but tell me what you think anyway," when the pictures are actually GOOD. Those are very nice, and in fact I want to do similar stuff like that, so I'm curious to know which program you used to make those images.

Good stuff. Looks like some 3D renders that have been run through the photoshop mill. Am I wrong?

I use Photoshop, Illustrator, assorted plug-in for both, Bryce 4 for some of the abstract shapes and I'm starting to learn Cinema 4d for some more complex images.

Just experiment, let your imagination go completely wild and then try and figure out how to create it. I've had more success coming up with a vision and chasing it down rather than just blindly trying filters and effects to get something good looking.
