i use quark 4.11 (but not in a while).
recently, i've cleaned out what i thought were a lot of extra files from my apps folders, etc (ie multiple copies of simple text, read mes, unused exts)

now when i go to open quark it asks for the "auxiliary profiles folder"...
which i don't seem to have. (& my ex has the install cd)

what goes in there? (or how can i get rid of that request window?)

thanx in advance!

The auxilliary profiles holds additional color profiles for colorsync/quark. I have never been able to figure out how to make it go away, but it randomly does... sorry. you aren't missing anything important however.

I've seen this happen when doing a fresh install or re-install of QuarkXPress 4.11 on some systems. Although I've never trimmed out XTensions from Quark my guess is there must be an XTension that Quark keeps to point it to the ColorSync folder.

The fix is you have to "point" it to the ColorSync folder in your system folder. Once that's done, that message shouldn't pop-up again.

Hope that helps

Yeah re-read my post and "point" the message to your system folder/colorsync folder and all should be good.

Didn't what I said make sense the first time?

You can also get rid of this, by deleting (or moving) the preferences file out of the application folder. Quark will rebuild it and not worry about the missing reference.

Of course if you've added custom frames into Quark (not something a lot of designers are doing in today's design) then you'll lose those and have to reload them.

This has always fixed it for me.[/LIST]

Oops my "bad". I forgot it's inside the pref's folder (which happens to be in the system folder). If there were any doubts about where I said it was, doing a "find" with Sherlock would have located it as-well

Sorry for not being specific enough
