Has there been any word on when Adobe will be releaseing Photoshop Elements for OS X. I need some good photo editing/printing software, photoshop is a lot more - feature and pricewise - than I need.
Thanks, Jeff

Can't you still do a competitive upgrade to PS from PS Elements? I know you used to be able to for like $179....

There's an upgrade from Elements to PS on the Adobe website now for $299, limited time offer. The announced upgrade price was $500 if I remember, so I jumped on this offer. $179 is the price to upgrade from a previous edition of the full Photoshop, not Elements.

All I have heard is that Carbon Elements is Adobes big project, they got 7.0 out so their next job is to upgrade Elements.

What's the major difference between Elements vs. the full version of Photoshop? I have always worked Photoshop full... Can you use layers?

Photo Elements has no support for CYMK mode. It has some extras, like a MERGE function that lets you stitch together photos for a panorama. It works well. Photo Elements has a special help function to guide amateurs. And it automates one way of dealing with red eye. It does do layers.

I understand the big one is no 48 bit scanner support. Also no curves.

PS LE, the version before Elements had Curves. If Elements dosn't I'd be MONDO Surprised. You can do Levels too.
It does Layers, Layer effects,File Browser, and a buncha other stuff from what I've seen. You get all the filters. Basically the only thing that I've found LE didn' thave that I liked from the version of 5.5 that I saw was layer effects which Elements DOES have. And replace colour. The rest of the stuff is more like the PRO type stuff.
It's a real steal for the price. And Adobe better get that out soon! Once I upgrade my iMac I wanna be able to stay in OS X With Fireworks Mx and Photoshop Elements!

Thought you'd like to know that there is a document available on adobe.com that has a chart showing some of the differences between Adobe PhotoDeluxe, Photoshop Elements and Photoshop. It's called, "Digital Imaging Line, " and is a PDF that can be found at this URL:
