I've got a few old kids CD-ROMs like Kid Pix that won't run under Classic - are there any tricks to getting them running or are they just coasters now? I'm running 10.3.1, and when you click to run them it starts to animate the opening but as soon as the icon appears in the dock it disappears again. Any help appreciated.

Try booting into OS9, as opposed to running Classic under OS X.

They could rely on old versions of Quicktime, so that could be a stumbling block as well.

I don't think a PB 12" will boot into OS9, will it?

You're right, the PB can't boot into OS9. Looks like these disks are doomed... Maybe I should have kept my 3400c after all.

Not all is lost, I think.

Try vMac (find it on www.macupdate.com )

I haven't got around to testing that myself, yet, but it runs older MacOS versions just fine.

Yes, and it only emulates a black and white Macintosh too.

Sheesh the stuff isn't that old! It's all stuff that ran fine in OS8.6 and 9.2.2.
