i have iCal and using it on panther. in jaguar i would get alerts for those calendar items that had alerts, but now (in panther) i am not getting any alerts for events ... even if i have them set to give me an alert.

help!

It appears that iCal must have had run once per login session for the alerts to work. So the workaround is to put it into the login items. You can then quit iCal.

so that would mean i would have to logout each time i would want an alert?

No, I didn't want to say that.

someone suggested deleting my prefs ... all of this is confusing. is this a known bug? i just want alerts to pop up like they did in jaguar. whether the application (iCal) is open or not.

okay ... deleting the preference file SEEMED to work. i created a basic test appointment and i got the notice! yippee!
