Recently I acquired a larger hard drive and when copying my files across to the new drive I mistakenly copied a non working copy of the OS X onto the new drive it actually copied the system into separate folders of components. I've already tried to drag these folders to the trash but I get a warning dialogue telling me I cant do this. How can I get rid of them ?
I should add that my working Jaguar system is on the other smaller (8 gig) hard drive, whereas the new (80 gig) hard drive mostly has the major apps and my files etc.

Whether this matters or not I have a b/w G3 350 mghtz

cd /Volumes/"The name of the drive, in quotes"
sudo rm .hidden
sudo rm -r .vol
sudo rm -r Network
sudo rm -r System
sudo rm -r Volumes
sudo rm -r automount
sudo rm -r bin
sudo rm -r cores
sudo rm -r dev
sudo rm etc
sudo rm mach
sudo rm mach.sym
sudo rm mach_kernel
sudo rm -r private
sudo rm -r sbin
sudo rm tmp
sudo rm -r usr
sudo rm var

Now, wouldn't it be nice if all those folders were in /System so you could delete it all in one fell swoop? Oh well...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist 2.5.2. Macworld - five mice!

It would be easier to simply erase the drive and start again.

Also, you can't create a working OS X system by copying the files of another install. You should use a program such as Carbon Copy Cloner to do this.
