A bit late, but I wondered how many folks get to legally experience the joy of fireworks.

And then 200 were injured and 12 killed when fireworks went of in a bar in the Netherlands at a new years eve party.

<img src="http://www.telegraaf.nl/krant/focus/volendam/fotos/volendam.bar.jpg" alt=" - " />

It's still legal though.

And then I burned my pinkie-finger last night (really...and it hurt like an s.o.b.) First injury in 25 years of shooting off fireworks.

It's still legal though

Used to live in RI. Fireworks illegal, but the cops could not care less.
Live in MA now. Fireworks illegal and I saw something last night I have not seen in 15 years (last time I lived in MA): a person arrested for using fireworks. Just as well. The folks in my area who use fireworks are all Darwin Award candidates, anyway. Those arrested are only being saved from themselves.
Come to think on it, perhaps MA cops should start ignoring the law a bit...

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

I think fireworks should be restricted to use by trained professionals, but I am not a fanatic about it. I set off bottle rockets as a kid. I used to shoot them at ducks.

Fireworks smuggled into a building with blocked fire exits, decorated for a party and packed with 700 kids. I feel sorry for the kids and their families and friends, but not what I'd call a reason for making fireworks illegal. I'd be looking for the kids that had the fireworks.

Should be illegal without a license in all of the US. To many dumb people to just legalize it. And the police need to inforce it. I don't feel like having my house burnt down by some dumb kid who doesn't know what he is doing.

And I wouldn't want anyone I know to be hurt by some idiot who doesn't know how to handle fireworks responcibly.

They are just to dangerous.

And about that fire in the town... that sucks. What idiot would allow that in the middle of town? Damn. Why couldn't they put that next to a drug rehab center? At least take advantage of disaster.

Hmm, poll doesn't work right. Fireworks are legal here, so I said Yes to Q1.
Q2 says if they're illegal, did I set them off anyway. I can't answer Yes or No to that (since they're legal here) so my vote for Q1 won't count.

I was up in AK for a year, and I like their idea: it's legal , but the only places to buy them are like mile 20 of the Par Highway, out in the middle of friggen nowhere.

I don't think it's much of a deterent.
I see all the comments about the danger of fireworks. Are we going to make bicycles ilegal? They harm more people than fireworks, by a large margin. It's all about responsibility.
Personally, I skip the 4th, as there is way too much light in July. Ruins the display. I save my dough and do a big bash on New Years. Snow all around, no chance of fire, and plenty of darkness.
