Is anyone using WordPress (the openSource blogging tool.)
If so could you explain to me how it is meant to email me? Does it email using an internal engine - or using an external server (e.g. postfix)?
I can't see any mail sending options in the prefs - and it's supposed to email me when I need to moderate a comment (but I haven't received a mail from it yet.)
Or is it possible to get an RSS feed of comments that require moderation?
Thanks.

I've just got the answer from the WordPress IRC channel.
Sorry for the noise.
[edit] - I've hacked up an unmoderated comments RSS feed generating page - available here:
http://www.diggory.net/grazing/wp-un...tsrss2.php.txt
This was hacked-up by altering the v1.2 comments page - so it may not work in future version of WP.
(obviously remove the .txt before installing it in your WordPress root.)

Enough said. He he he.
Seriously, I have no idea though. Kudos for not using blogger or livejournal.

I used to use MT - but prefer WordPress now.
I like the fact that it's OpenSource.
It turns out that WP uses PHP's mail() function - so I had to tweak php.ini to get it to talk to PostFix properly.

True be that. Like MTs new pricing structure. Keeps me stuck at version 2.64.

Hmm... no offense, but that's sort of a little like someone saying "Hey, I've got this little problem in OSX that I can't figure out, anyone know what to do?" and then getting the reply, "www.microsoft.com - enough said"

I actually switched from WP to MT. Like with many things in life you get what you pay for, IMO. I love MT's ability to generate static pages, making it a fully fledged CMS rather than 'just' a blogging engine.
But then, you're not me and mileage varies.

3.11 is available for free download at the MT site.

the building of static pages is what turned me off.
I also toyed with Wordpress and Nucleus ( www.nucleuscms.org ) but keep going back to pMachine and just recently ExpressionEngine
you do get what you pay for and I think ExpressionEngine is well worth the $99 (competitive upgrade)

I expressed myself badly. MT3.11 does write fully dynamic pages now. You actually have a choice between html and php, with fully dynamic building if so desired.
What I mean was that I can build non-blog pages with ease while still keeping all the design intact. This means that I can use MT to render files other than index.php and create an entire site with it.
I had a look at Expression Engine and liked it a lot. In the end I went for MT because of lower cost and the huge installed userbase. I'd be interested to see how you'll be using EE.

There's a plug-in for WP that does that:

Cool stuff.
Does it write to multiple pages? In MT, or EE for that matter, I can create any number of pages and name then as I wish, not just blog content pages. This allows me to build and manage an entire site from one CMS install.
