After hearing about the new XServe G5 update I had to wonder what was going on. What is their rationale for releasing the upgrade exactly one week from Macworld? Don't they want to pump as many new releases/updates as possible into the presentation? One explaination I conjured up is that they needed to shorten the length of the keynote presentation. I remember Jobs joking at one Macworld, "We've got so much to show you guys today that we even considered having an intermission". That seems rather unlikely however. Maybe they had a bulk order that needed to fufilled on a schedule... Maybe there will be an announcement regarding a new supercomputer cluster being built. Any ideas?

I related the Xserve announcement to the CES. while not a consumer device, many of those companies that have products at the CES deal with broadcasting, both internet and over air/satelite, which the Xserve is a good solution.

Am I the only one expecting/hoping to see the 3.0 GHz barrier reached at this Macworld? Or is that the dumbest guess you've ever heard?
And will the keynote be broadcast? I'v heard rumors that it wont be live, only a delayed recording after its all said and done. Not that I can watch it live anyway... I'll be in school.

I think that they just have so much more to unveil at MacWorld. They'd probably not want to waste time with just a mhz bump on a minor niche product.

my bet is they want just enough new products to fill the main page with 5 boxes, the main one and the four bellow.
Expect:
iPod min and tiny to occupy one.
iLife perhaps with "Asteroid" on another.
iWork to have it's own
iMac mini or whatever to have it's own
And ... was there another thing? Uhh iPod speakers might be with the iPod stuff...
Maybe there's a product not even rumored or I'm tired...
Might see speed bumped PowerBooks or some sort of overhaul of the laptop line. Or something with the eMac.

Tiger will take a box, and a shipping date will be announced. (I hope)
