I was looking for a new chair and found that simple was better for me. I tend to put a lot of pressure on whatever is available using my arms/hands. I am much happier now that I have a chair w/o armrests, nice cushion on the seat, and good back support. That with more attention to good posture has made all the difference. This is most likely the chair tucked away at the back of the store because it isn't flashy.
Saves money over some of the "ergonomic" scams too.

No offense to urbanmastermind, but my office has both Leap and Aeron chairs. Our designers fight for the Aerons while we leave the Leaps for clients.
Check out eBay for Aerons; I've seen them running between $450-600.

I've got two Aeron chairs in my house, they're awesome chairs, indeed. I highly recommend them for anyone who can afford them.

I sat in an Aeron at a co-workers house, and am intent on buying one as soon as my taxes are filed (damn IRS...*grumble*).

I recently left a job I just hated, but stayed a least a month longer than I otherwise would have just for the Aeron.
Damn I miss that chair. And the full range of excesses of the .com era.
Oh, those were the times.

Ah yes, if you can afford an Aeron chair, go for it. It lives up to the hype and is one of the best work chairs I've ever sat in. A good thing about the dotcom bust is that a bunch went on sale when the companies were liquidated. I picked up 2 for $120 each.

Yep! it looks like an entire $25 of chair, it will be busted within 2/3 months.
The transparent one at the top og this thread looks to be of the same quality too
I have all ways found Ikea to have the best conbination of quality/cheapness when it comes to home office chairs.
Both my mother & brother have this one.
Operativ $475

Yeow!!! I'd rather pay $25 every 3 months then buy that expensive chair!!!!
And I just noticed, it's been 4 months with this one and one of the legs is starting to get flimsy.. bad thing

One of the biggest pieces of computer advice I can give, regardless of platform, is: don't be afraid to spend money on your chair. Get the most comfortable one you can find, and don't consider money to be an object unless you absolutely cannot afford the thing. With all the time you'll be putting into that thing, you want it to last as long as possible and to be as comfortable as possible.

This is soooooooo true man... particularly for someone like me. I have been sitting on my chair for 20 hours in the last 24 hours, working on various stuff.
The 4 hours that i wasn't around were spent on (in chrono order):
Breakfast (45 mins)
Lunch (45 mins)
Visiting my classmates at a UNIX lab in campus in the middle of the night. (30 mins)
Shower (30 mins)
Had "dinner" in the morning with my classmate when they're done with those horrible prolog/perl programming LOL (1 hour)
Breakfast again with my gf (1 hour, we talk a lot)

I never thought a thread about chairs would excite much consumer lust in me, but all of a sudden I starting thinking about my sore butt and long days in front of the computer... and the next thing I know I'm pricing chairs.
