But i am still wondering about the idea of using a firewire equipped mac as a sercurity terminal to view 4 videocamera's...

Any one have any ideas or resources relating to this topic?

i guess you could but why would you want to when you could buy an analog unit for a much lower price

How would you view all feeds at once?

Why would you spend so much more for FireWire cams?

Where would you get FireWire cabling long enough? Why spend that much on it?

Software issue? Recording? Etc, etc...

Well im interested in setting up sercurity around my house that could be monitored easily, do you have any ideas?

yes go to a security place.... buy 4 cameras, buy a vcr, get a tv, and get whatever you need to hook it all up

Much as I hate to say it, have you ever heard of X10? They're generally credited with both the invention of the full-screen popup ad and the dreaded popunder. But they really do sell equipment you can use to make a pretty darn nice video-security system. It would probably be a lot cheaper than a FireWire-based solution as well.

Use a switch box to flip between all the cameras.

Or buy 3 or 4 of the cards!
