Yes, this may seem eerily similar to an old thread. But this time we'll get the shirts made. For realsies.
And the winner of the design contest will get 5 free shirts. Or a coat made of squirrel pelts. I'll have to ask Monish to clarify that one for me.
Templates (note, the shirts don't have to be grey. that's just the color of this template. ask IceEnclosure for an answer to that):
- don't use too many colors - this means no complex graphics or gradients of any sort. keep it simple. the more colors we use, the more expensive the shirt will be. (the shirt itself does not count as a color..hint hint)
- keep any graphic very simple
- macnn colors are good, but not required
- use your imagination, if you're going to use the macnn logo at the top left of this page or the main page, change it around a bit
- design something you'd want to wear yourself. hot pink may be your favorite color, but most people would rather avoid it.

Any particular dimensions or DPI? 150 DPI worked well for the NSFG shirts I did. Just so any of us pixel-pushers know. I'm sure rest will go with some vector action.

no particular dimensions. just post your ideas as individual jpgs and in the context of the tshirt using the template below. 150dpi or higher should be fine. i used to do mine at 300dpi, but that's me.
we might end up combinging a few different ideas, so if everyone keeps their raw files that'd help a ton.

eventually. but at this rate we'll only have 3 serious entries in the next week. so i may move this thread.
but i have hope.
for some stupid reason.
remember, this should be able to stand alone as a shirt for the entire site, not just the lounge. while i'm sure some of you would like a pic of a cauldron with star wars guy and zimphire being boiled alive, i don't think that'd be appropriate.

Technically also problematic. That would mean blue cloth with yellow and white printing on it. Looks bad shortly after a few washes
Edited: Maybe remove the blue backround and having the symbols just on plain white??!?

Here're two. Nice and simple, keeping with the theme. I don't know about what color shirts you guys can choose from, but I thought it'd be cool to stick with that blue everyone else was trying (looks nice). And I tried to come up with something that could work with other colors. Meh. Click for larger versions.
Don't know if the yellow strips on the collar or arms is possible (if it would be cloth or printed?), but.... I imagine it would look OK without them.
And it works OK on white (despite my crappy color removal from the shirt ):
That was fun.

Perhaps I'm just strange, but would you guys actually pay money to wear around a tee shirt with the logo of a Macintosh news website on it??

The way I see it, think about the clothes people wear. Gap, Nike, yadda yadda yadda. Paying money to promote their brand. Sure it's geeky, but I think I'd buy one.

The way I see my design is, it doesn't SAY MacNN but if you're a big Mac Geek you know where that Magnifying Glass comes from and you'll surely get the Star reference...
It's like the Iron Chef t-shirt... a black shirt with a yellow bell pepper that's been bitten into. You only get it if you're a fan.

I like Mac Guru's idea: a MacNN t-shirt that's only obvious if you're a MacNN fan. That way, you can actually wear the shirt outside in public without being attacked by PC geeks or other anti-Mac individuals.
Keep up all the great designs!
