Let's just say he wasn't so much Jeckyl and Hyde type, but more of a pure Hyde. On the other hand he was also the comic relief of the show, pattering away at the cylons like they were his half trained robot puppies, and shaking in his boots before the Imperious Cylon leader like the cowardly lion before Oz.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

As you say, not quite Hyde, since Hyde is pure evil; the comic relief part took away from his perceived evilness in a way. His character wasn't meant to be comic relief, but his acting had to be the cheesiest in the entire show, like Mike Myers' Dr. Evil in a 1950's show, albeit (semi-)serious. I wonder if the B-movie overacting was intentional however. (The very evil Hyde part is that his only goal was to sell out to the Cylons and get power for himself with them.)
LLB, BTW his second in command on that Cylon base star was Lucifer, which is my favourite Cylon. Imagine this Cylon with a voice and attitude almost like Frasier's brother Niles':
Lucifer was the true comic relief for the Cylons on that show.

I was born in 75 but I saw all the star wars in theatres as well as the trek movies so my age wasn't the reason. It just never impressed me as a kid, I thought it was corny even then.

The first time around? You were 2 years old when Star Wars came out.
I wonder how many times it played again though in the theatres.

Yep, my mom liked the original Star Wars so she took me to all of them. I sat there dead quite.
Not 100% sure I saw the fist star Wars in the theatre but I actually remember seeing Empire and Jedi clearly.

Yeah, they keep telling us how egotistical and self-serving he is, but mainly he just seems like he's constantly about to piss himself. Seriously, I don't get why nobody is questioning his sanity.

I don't know why nobody else has questioned why baltar seems to have fights with nobody in the hallways all the time.

They don't trust him, and they think he's very strange. The grunts are constantly looking at him funny in the hallways. Billy even called him cuckoo early on in season 1.
OTOH, he's given them very useful scientific information with regards to human (and cylon) biology, tillium refining, and computers, among other things. Furthermore, his information has saved the fleet several times now.
So, even if some people were to think he's very "eccentric" or even borderline insane, they keep him around because overall his presence has been very beneficial.
This is in stark contrast to the original Baltar who just about everyone thought was an obvious traitor.
This is also why I don't understand Baltar's setting up Gina the bomb. This is quite a big turn in his character for him. They can write what they want, but this seems somewhat out of character. I was expecting more of a gradual change in Baltar, but whatever.

It seems right up his alley. Clearly he feels betrayed by the Pres, and he also is feeling quite close to Gina. This is just his way of showing that he`s with her.
I think a good number of people in the fleet have misgivings about him, which is causing him to go even more insane. No one in charge has any respect for him. He`s just one step away from making a glowing headed robot that speaks like Dr. Crane.

That last episode was...weird. To say the least.

Where did the 2003 miniseries get split when it was aired on TV? I'm going to Handbrake my DVD of it, but to keep it as one 3 hour file makes it too big for my tastes. So, I'm gonna split it in half, but I may as well split it like they did on TV.

I thought it aired all in one piece.

No, it was two 2-hour movies (1.5 hours each plus commercials). Hence, "miniseries".

Ok but I thought they aired at least the next day right? I think when I finally saw it up here it was all one episode.
Anywho, you can easily spot where they go to commercial. Find one at about the 1.5 hour mark.
I remember definite fades to commercials when:
1) Apolo sets off the fake nuke aboard the Colonial 1
2) The civilian ships jump to FTL leaving behind many civilian ships
3) Splurge and burn a dual layer disk
