Yikes. At least we know that Boomer won't be executed outright. Anyone want to put odds on Tight hitting the bottle and killing her? It's not like she's the only Boomer we've got.
Have you seen me?

That was cool. I must say BSG renewed my faith in the Sci-fi channel this last year. I hope they keep me entertained for a while longer.

So, Space in Canada is repeating Season 1, and then showing Season 2 in the fall.

In the US, www.scifi.com is showing the first half of Season 2 in the summer, but isn't showing the rest until January. What Space is doing is showing those first ten Season 2 episodes in the fall, but then showing the second half of the season at the same time as scifi.com.

Season 2 starts in the fall in the UK too.

I wonder how many Cylons were on that ship? I wish they would have cut to show more about what Starbuck & Helo are doing.

From the brief glimpse we got, looked like about six or seven. Could be more in the gloom, though.

Extremely irked that the opening theme and title sequence has changed.

Otherwise, good stuff.

When's the DVD set for season 1 coming out again? I seem to remember hearing about Amazon prematurely specifying July some time. Is that not confirmed, cuz I see no reference to it now? It'd make a great present for my my nephew's birthday, since they don't get BSG at all where he lives.

His equipment doesn't support PAL or Region 2.

I'm hoping the US/Canadian version will have a few more extras than the UK version too, but I doubt it. Even just having the podcasts as a separate track would be a bonus.

There are rumors that Best Buy will have the UK version available July 26: "Previously only available on DVD in the UK, this four disc set includes all 13 episodes plus deleted scenes. These DVDs have been formatted to be compatible with most North American DVD players."

Could be what we're all wanting...

It's odd that the whole show is made in Canada but it airs here later

Anyway, I am watching the premier now thanks to bittorrent.

Any guesses why Boomer keeps fading in and out of "Cylon mode"? Amnesia?

Other than that I really enjoyed the season premiere.

They did mentioned that that model has always been weak.

Also, she is fighting what she knows she is.

In one of the episodes last season it was mentioned that they were sleeper agents, so they could conceivably not know that they were a cylon until the time came.

Yes, some of them have no idea they are Cylons. They are controlled remotely when needed.

Another question. In the premiere at the end the captain picks up a note in his room that says "There are 12 cylon models".

Who left him that important information?

Yup. They've made this point a few times: some of the Cylons think they're human. Apparently the differences between the human-looking Cylons and humans are miniscule: if a human can impregnate a Cylon, they would have to be.

I'd have to go back and see which episode it was, but that has been stated several times in about 3 or 4 of the episodes. Sorry I can't remember the details, but this is now "common knowledge".

On the mini-series DVD, Moore said that it was Baltar that left the note, presumably. When the mini was written, they had no idea whether it would be picked-up or not, so it the idea was left as some sort of spooky unresolved thread.

The note hasn't been discussed through the series, and I'm not sure if it'll be touched again.

I'm not sure, but IIRC he didn't say that was for sure either.

BTW, I'm glad there wasn't much of the blonde in the first season 2 episode. That imaginary friend/brain implant story really gets tiresome sometimes.

I think it is more that they do some things against their will. Like sleepwalking.

Actually right after she shot Adama she couldn't remember what she had done. So actually it's more like being "switched" into a different mode, than being forced to do something against their will.

In psychological terms, they enter a dissociative state.

Although not much has been revealed about how the Cylons are organized and what their purpose is, I get the feeling that the Cylons are not so much controlled by a central authority as they share a central driving purpose. It's as if they are all part of the same mind.

That's rather odd. I mean someone has some insider information on the Cylons and the captain isn't interested in who?

• The Boomer we know from the beginning (aka Galactica Boomer) will die.

They know there are only 12. Number Six and Gaius talked about it in one of the episodes -- I'll try and find it tonight if I have a chance.

As far as he knows, he knows all there is to know. Know what I mean?

He's always been suspicious of Gaius, and he keeps his eyes on him -- but remember, Gaius is a worlds-known eccentric, and no one knows he sees Number Six or they'd all be taking a number two (ba-dum ching! Thank you, thanks, I'll be here all week....).

I've always wondered why Baltar didn't reveal to the officers that Boomer was a cylon. They gave a lame explanation in that episode saying that he thought Boomer would whack him, but that seems too convenient.

I wonder how this will be resolved. Will Boomer reveal that Baltar knew all along?

The big question with Gaius: is he crazy and hallucinating, or does he really have some extra-sensory contact with the Cylons?

Or is he model # 12, etc. That wouldn't make sense with the whole baby thing though, unless Helo is model # 10 or something.

BTW, it does say something about this series that we're discussing it all. For most other shows, I wouldn't have cared enough to post about it.

Well, that Boomer won't make it through half the season, anyway. But remember: Number Six keeps telling Gaius that he's God's chosen one, and thus he does nothing to jeopardize his skin if he can avoid it. Further, I think Six told him not to reveal it just yet, didn't she?

I think #6 hinted that she might be a bomb that's why her name is "boomer". Baltar is scared that if he busts her that the cylon programming will kick in and she will explode.

Maybe. And maybe he's just suffering from PSTD from having his planet blown up. I"m not trying to be argumentative here. I have a feeling that whether or not he's hallucinating will have to do with whether or not the Cylon's plan includes humans in the long run. The fact that the Cylons seem to want a Cylon/human child implies they need something from humans they do not have in themselves.

Or it could be an eternal question, like if Hamlet was crazy or not. In Moore's podcast for the penultimate episode from last season ("Kobol's Last Gleaming, part I"), he said the he, himself, wasn't sure if Baltar was crazy or something was embedded in him. And really, at this point as Don wrote, it doesn't matter as long as it's driving the plot along (though it is getting a little fuzzy with the whole baby thing, and Six's obtuse hints).

And to give Gaius some credit, he obliquely persuaded Boomer into offing herself (though she failed in being succesful--whether due to Cylon programming, lack of conviction, or poor aim).

Perhaps the oldest human religious symbol is the deriving of duality out of unity, and the return of duality to unity. The writer's could be playing with this theme.
