I missed the code. Does anyone have the code to unlock the exclusive video content from Battlestar Galactica on scifi.com?

Bravo, like Sci-Fi, is part of the NBC family. They're rerunning a bunch of other new NBC series as well, like Heroes and 30 Rock.

And, of course, they used to rerun The West Wing constantly.

So who wants to bet Lee pulls a Commander Cain and splits the basestars with the Pegasus. Lee can't die of course, but there has to be an end to the Pegasus. It can't stay around too long.

Exactly. Pegasus will probably be lost in the rescue. Of course all hands will have to abandon ship before she goes. The can't afford to lose many more people.

The video extra also showed an interesting dilemma for Baltar. Redemption or no redemption? That is the question.

Not as satisfying or surprising an episode as the openers, but not bad. A few notes:

It's nice that the Chief had time to shave while his wife is in detention and being trucked away. Shows that touch of class, one must focus on the important things.

If one checks about 40 minutes in, right after Sharon delivers the launch keys. There is an outside shot of the Galactica before they zoom in. The civilian fleet is still there, even though it recently jumped away with Pegasus. Even better, you can see Colonial One beneath the Galactica.

How was D'ana able to tell at a glance that the #8 in front of her was the Sharon defector?

Brother Cavel's download experience suggests there is a download limit for the humaniod models. Doesn't seem to be any download limit on the Raiders.

It appears from limited examples that the humanoid Cylons bunk in Colonial One. I guess it is quieter than the Detention center, fewer moans interrupting a good night's sleep.

There's no way I'd eat that salt after they sweep it back up.

Heh, that's funny. Given their attention to detail, I'm surprised they let that pass.

My comments:
Baltar will never be redeemed. He is the consummate two-face. He will only do what benefits him. Signing the death order kept him alive, although he almost drew the line. The imaginary six reminded him of what is really necessary: staying alive. The comment to fight another day is only in relation to fighting for himself, not the human race (my take).

I thought good Sharon's talking to any humans was a dead giveaway she was the good Sharon. It was careless of her to do that. D'ana guessing it was her in an instant was kind of obvious since she knew Sharon was still alive and no one should have been getting into the launch keys.

I think the presence of the Pegasus is irrelevant to the storyline. They do not engage in major battles (although one could be coming in the New Caprica evacuation). There is no reason to eliminate it and it allows the show to be a little more flexible in the rescue attempt. The writers must have something up their sleeves for Lee as I'm sure they don't intent to keep him in a fat suit all season.

Each subsequent download becoming more and more painful may be a side effect of desroying the clone ship. It makes the cylons a little more human, ironically.

Further thoughts.

There cannot be a download limit. Maybe it just gets more painful. Leoben has been recycled at least 6 times, apparently without issues. Kara has recycled him 5 times so far, and Roslin recycled him once in Season 1. It is not clear if Kara's Leoben is the same as Adama's Leoben in the miniseries. If so, then he's been recycled at least 7 times.

What if Galactica misses the rendezvous with Pegasus? You end up with two fleets, which may not run into each other for several episodes. That would give Lee plenty of time on the treadmill. Also, most of the civilians would have to bunk in Galactica, since the grounded civilian ships would not be enough to house everyone.

Lots of story possibilities there, especially since some Cylons will surely end up being evacuated.

The Secret-Messages dog is tied up in front of the grain storage tent. Those extra drawers in the tool caddy must hold the grain.

Right before the separation ceremony with the salt, Helo speaks with Dualla. His parting words are "Take care of our son". Er, what?

Imaginary Six and Imaginary Baltar have not put in appearances lately. Wouldn't it be cool if they could see each other?

I heard it as "Take care of his son".

This evacuation has me scratching my head. I haven't got the foggiest idea how they're going to pull it off without heavy casualties while remaining vaguely plausible.

I think we can let this slide. Colonial One was a commercial space plane before it was Colonial One. We can assume, just as there are plenty of 747's for moving people around, there should be plenty of these commercial space planes flying people around. Surely Colonial one was not the only commercial space plane to survive the attack?

The Pegasus will join the Galactica in the fight to free the colonists.

I took Helos comment to mean that he and Boomer had another child in the last 16 months. That would go a long way to show the shift in Sharons behavior as well as giving Adama a good reason to trust Sharon. If he has her child, she'll be wanting to come back.

No, he was pretty clearly referring to Lee. Dualla had just said to take care of Admiral Adama.

I saw Grace Park at the Asian Film Festival today. Some kind of interesting trivia gleaned from the interview:

• Cylons don't have to eat or drink to stay alive. (I was wondering about that.)
• Cylons don't wear clothes on basestars. So I am really looking forward to the upcoming life-on-a-basestar episode, assuming it is Sharon- and Six-centric.
• Grace originally auditioned for Dualla, but was told to come to callbacks for Starbuck. She was disappointed when she got Boomer, who Grace agrees with me was a boring wuss in the miniseries. Now that she sees where the series has gone, she thinks she lucked out. (I remember at Comic-Con last year, she was really excited about shooting Adama.)

Rumor is in the trailer for the next episode, the scene with the exploding basestar is showing the Pegasus colliding with the basestar. I find it kind of hard to see, but I'm hoping Pegasus makes it through the battle. I like seeing Adama Jr. in a command position.

Ok, "Take care of his son" makes a lot more sense given the context, but I just played it back on my tivo about 8 times and it sure as hell sounds like "Take care of our son."

Might be a tip-o-the-FX-hat to the old series, which IIRC only had about three shots of the fleet (and only two of vipers taking off).

I doubt that. Reshowing special effects was a great drag on the original and with the positive press that BSG is getting now, they no longer need any references or homages to the original. The show is standing on its own for what it is, not what inspired it.

Yeah, I know.

That was more a dig at the original series than a serious consideration.

I know, I heard it too, but I figure he meant "our son" in a joking context, since Helo is the Admiral's XO now.

Did you guys notice in the trailer for next week it looks like Galactica is LANDING on the planet?

Also some line about "Galactica and Pegasus has jumped into orbit" confirms that Pegasus will be joining the fight.

I didn't see Galactica land (if so, wow), but Pegasus is definitely joining the fight. There are several lines in the preview about it. Something like, "Pegasus has just jumped into orbit!" "Pegasus? What are you doing, Lee?"

I think the canadian and american trailers are totally different. Nobody remembers a shot of as if you were standing on the planet and looking up you see the battlestar coming down above you as if it is about a mile over your head?

I saw the Canadian trailer too, and it did look like the battlestar was coming in for a landing or something. It was certainly looking like it was in the atmosphere of the planet.

I'd watch the US trailer, but that @#%^&*@!! flash video at Scifi.com won't work on my machine (which is a brand new iMac Core 2 Duo 2.33). I get about one frame every 5 seconds.

EDIT:

I was finally able to watch it on my Cube. That scene is completely missing in the American trailer.

I was thinking it was just a low orbit for a sec but there is no way. I mean the ship filled the screen so it must have been 1km above the surface.

I can post a video later if nobody can find it online.

She is either mistaken about that one, or thinking of the Centurions. The humanoid models do need to. The Leoben model was seen to sweat, and material lost has to be replenished. So they drink, and either eat, or drink saltwater. Sweat contains salt.

Gina sure looked like she needed to eat, and went for the food. Injuries require materials to heal. They'll need food for energy too, unless the Cylons altered the cell structure enough to work as a nuclear power source. Any modification that big would be easy to detect - you could find Cylon agents by checking everyone with a Geiger counter. The glow-in-the-dark feature might give them away too.

I can't see the Canadian preview. Could this be a shot recycled from the beginning of the miniseries? When Laura is in the doctor's office, you reach that office by panning down from a sky shot. What looks like a battlestar in atmosphere can be seen flying by some distance overhead.

btw, I agree on the Flash suckiness. I want the QT downloads back.

I don't think so.

Something they show is the battered galactica and Adama asking Helo if they have jump drive. He shakes his head for no and adama says: "So it is over then. It has been an honour serving with all of you".

I guess right after that is where Pegasus swoops in in Star Trek style and saves their ass.

Maybe I misunderstood. It's from the "Life on a Basestar" write-up that was given to all the Cylon actors. The exact phrasing was more like, "The way the Cylons take in food and all that, it's completely voluntary." It seemed like she meant they didn't have to, but maybe "completely voluntary" means something else.

I thought of Gina too, but I didn't want to interrupt her response to ask for clarification. Maybe they just get really weak but don't die from lack of nutrients.

They must have talked about the food thing when Starbuck tortured Leoben as they discussed the hungry thing.

Leoban did seem to indicate that he can "turn off" his pain receptors if he wanted to, so that is what I find strange about these Skinjobs complaining that death hurts. Either they don't want to shut if off because that makes them less human or they can't as Leoban lied.

Another thing about Hera... when Lucy Lawless was talking to doctor about her she mentioned she was the "First Cylon/human baby". I don't know why that is so important to them if they cooked up one in the labs of The Farm of baby Leobuck/Starban whatever.

Anywho, they also seem to hint that Lucy will hold Hera and as a result the humans will escape as "lose all of this" seems to indicate.

I also don't know why everyone doesn't pick up that Book of Pithica and doing some research of some future prophecies to help themselves out. Beats doing nothin'.

I don't think that Starbuck's baby is really hers or necessarily a hybrid. Based on her age, she would be much older than Hera and Hera would not be the "first". Starbucks baby is probably not a cylon/hybrid or not hers. Two hybrids reduces Hera's importance. The writers know better than that.

If the BaseShips had EM induction fields throughout (or induction recharge stations) then the ship could power the skin models. With temperature control inside the ships, perspiration and respiration losses would be kept to a minimum. They would still need to eat and drink to replenish lost water and skin, but it would be far less. Maybe some salt water every few days, and eat a small meal once a month. This would also substantially reduce the need for restrooms. Maybe only one per BaseShip. However, the number of hairstyling and makeup rooms would go up.

Eug, thanks for the link. I've frame stepped through a few parts, and Pegasus is shown. But I'm not quite seeing enough to be conclusive.

I checked what she (the oracle is a she, right?) said. It's ambiguous, which is right in character for oracles.

If the message was specific to the Three in front of her, then what has that unit done there, exactly? As near as I can tell, all she's done is make sarky comments and enemies. If the scope refers to Cylons on New Caprica in general, I don't see that anything they've done there was worth keeping.

Thanks. Told ya, that puppy is landing or coming close to it to block orbital attack on the planet.

I also saw the frame of Pegasus sideswiping a basestar.

Is that Pegasus or is it Galactica?

Coming in close is a good way to pick up escapees before any basestars can whack them in space. Raiders would pick off ships as they took off if the Galactica wasn't there as a MAJOR distraction.

This next episode could be a real nail-biter if done right. An exciting recue operation with plenty of explosions would be refreshing. Nothing says it won't lay the groundwork for another split-location storyline if, say, they leave without Kara or half the civilians. It could be all season before she rejoins the fleet if at all.

This show is doing things few space dramas have done successfully. It has changed the basic weekly premise of the show on the fly without affecting the ratings or quality. I dare say that the concept of just moving through space being chased or attacked while looking for earth is pretty boring, no matter how many socially-important stories you do on the side (I'm really NOT interested in the rest of the fleet and their plight). I'm surprised that they are getting them off the planet this quickly (or so it appears). I expected it to take all season before they got moving again.

Yeah, they shot some scenes weeks later, after they had shot some future episodes. By that time his beard had already been shaved.

They decided against doing the fake beard thing so they intentionally just glossed over it.

Lazy bastards.

They can make robots roam the streets and gigantic space battles but think a beard will look fake?
