Most of the hockey fans I know weren't fans until they saw a game live. Seeing it live makes you appreciate the sport 1000 times more than trying to get a feel for it by watching it on TV.
No commercials? There's all kinds. Watch a game live and when they pause for 5 minutes after a whistle, you know the suckers at home are watching commercials.
Yes, live is much better. I don't watch many games on TV, but almost every winter I get to see the Leafs play.
