I'm about to buy a knife [part of a fork/spoon/knife set] .... and there's two knives with the same exact design, one is the normal one and one is a "monobloc" version of it.

Oddly, the normal one is $16 and the monobloc version is $7.

two questions:

1. what's the difference?

2. why is the price so varied?

thanks so much ahead of time for any help!

Quality of the steel, the monobloc will not keep its sharp edge for a long time.

I couldn't tell from the site ...

is the steel actually different? or is it just the way it's made [both using the same steel]?

Thanks for the info so far!

A Professional blade is forged hot and a Monobloc blade is forged cold this means the blade will not stay sharp as long as the hot forged,or you could possibly get a better egde on the hot forged blade, lets face it no one likes a blunt knife.

One is made by Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, and thus it will imbue its power on the beholder making him a living god on earth.

The other is made by some guy in a factory in Mexico, and he's paid only $0.65 an hour. Thus the owner of this knife will be supporting the exporting of American jobs across the border into Mexico and the continuing suffering of the people of Mexico as they get paid next to nothing (wrap your head around that one).

The choice of very clear to me.
