Why not the best of both worlds? A G5 with something like this!

Easy one.. I choose g5 without Tivo. My sister was telling me how cool it is but still, I'd choose a Mac over Tivo.

Whats a Tivo?

*looks it up...*

Ahh, a personal video recorder that lacks internet show sharing, automatic commercial skip, and a quick interface.

Personally, I'll keep my ReplayTv 5000 and Powerbook G4. Because togther, both are even better. All I do is run a java program called DVArchive, and I have my TV shows to go on my Powerbook, or the ability to use my hard drive space as extra space on the Replay and stream shows back to the TV. Plug, play. No hacking, like what is needed on a Tivo to kinda get these features.

I would go with the G5 because, like most here, I don't have a Tivo.

It's an easy choice, A G5 Mac running osX, but no Tivo.

Just to answer your questions, why not... because it doesn't control Satellite TV. And DirecTV is too good to get rid of for a Miglia.

Nope.. just a fun poll.

I saw a few people say they'd rather have a replay tv. I guess I should have phrased it dvr or mac

dvr's include:
tivo
replay
cable box w/ built-in dvr
the el gato mac thingy
recording directly to your mac via firewire from an hd cable box

If I take the G5 do I get to keep my 12 inch PowerBook?

I don't own a TV, and esspecially when away at College, I don't have time nor do I care to watch TV. That said with a PowerMac you can just get 24 on DVD.

Where is the "You can only pry my Mac or my TiVo from my cold, dead hands" option? I would never give up either.

I just gave my TiVo to my uncle so he can record car races and sports stuff like that on weekends. All I need is my PowerBook...

What is a Tivo? If I don't know this thing, then I suppose I don't need it!
