me n a buddy are trying to get a LAN thing going here with the original unreal tournament using a crossover cable. Hes running windows 98, im on OS 9. Right now, we cant even figure out how to see each other's computers in the explorer/finder. but all we want is to run the multiplayer demo on our machines. any helps/tips ?

we have enabled file sharing and turned off all firewalls. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i assume you both have the client installed on your computers.
can you ping each other? if you can, then don't worry about explorer/finder. just open the game and one of you create a game and the other one join it via ip address.

if you can not ping each other.
then you are going to need to check your ip settings, network cable, etc, etc.

thanks dude. we got it figured out. we had to manually enter our IP addresses in and turn off all firewalls. works great now.

That should be enough for both machines to see each other.
