The only BlueTooth phone that supports Verizon is the Motorola V710. I really don't know whether it's any good; check out epinions.com.

i've hyperlinked a google search query for this phone, so take a look at the first few of the links stating that the bluetooth functionality has been somewhat crippled.

http://www.google.com/search?q=motor...en-US:official

I've been wondering to see how the phone is myself. I believe you are entitled to a 15 day no hassle return policy if in the end you don't like it. You just gotta make sure that everything works and hope there isn't crummy software loaded on it.

indeed the functionality that was crippled is what i find most useful about bluetooth: transferring of pictures and ringtones between the phone and the computer. disabling those features in order to force customers into using verizon's pay-to-play over the network functionality is a low move.

I'm more than a little pissed that I waited so long for the 710 to come out only to find that verizon has crippled it. I'm about fed up with the poor offering of phones verizon has to offer. I'd dump them in a heart beat if it wasn't for the fact that I get a signal just about everywhere I go.

There is a new Treo 650 rumored to be coming out for Verizon , and it supposedly has bluetooth.

No one is sure when it is coming out, but maybe in the next few months, according to some rumor sites.

It still seems like the big players (Verizon, Sprint) can sell enough phones to business customers (doing phone calls only) or kiddies, neglecting users that want to do anything remotely related to bluetooth and mobil internet.

As far as I am concerned, the only good choice is T-Mobil or AT&T.
And yes, their network is not as extensive, but we all know that...

I have Cingular. I also have the Motorola V600 Quad Band world phone with Bluetooth. It's a really nice phone. Cingular seems to be forgotten on these forums when discussing Cel Phones and service. They have the same phones as T-mobil and AT&T. Cingular is now one of the largest cell Providers considering they just bougth AT&T Wireless. That's one of the reasons AT&T wireless has such improved service.

i have a cingular w/bluetooth as well, a SE T637. the reality is that cingular's phone selection is smaller than t-mobile and attws. you can't buy a nokia 3650 or 6600 through cingular at least, judging from what's on amazon.com.

My wife is currently a Verizon Wireless customer. For her next phone she is interested in having a Bluetooth compatible phone.

Verizon doesn't let you transfer pictures? Even, say, syncing Addressbook with user pics?

I do it all the time on my VZW phone.

Feature wise Verizon is "wheh"
Customer service wise they are amazing. :-)

I'm waiting for the Treo 650 !!!
The low res screens of the Treo 600 prevented me from dumping my Tungsten. That's why I have a cable to hook my Tungsten to my LG VX6000.

When the Treo 650 comes, assuming the friggin thing works, I'll replace both devices with one.

I just got a Motorola V600 with AT&T and bluetooth works for transfering pics and ringtones. It just doesn't seem to work with iSync. It also works with my Jabra bluetooth headsest. Overall I'm really pleased with AT&T's network here, they've made big improvements since I was last a customer 4 years ago. I've previously used T-Mobile (which uses Cingular's network here) and Sprint. I considered Verizon but their phone selection was just too poor and their disabling of file transfer is a transparent money grab...

I've revived this old thread because I'm moving out of my house for 5 or 6 weeks during construction and the place we're staying has no phone or internet hook ups. I was hoping to "stay connected" w/Bletooth via my Verizon phone model LG VX4500. This thread makes me think it's not going to work too well. Any one have any more current information?

You mean that you want to use the cell phone as a modem witha BT connection ?

Good lukc, I don't think you'll get it to worlk I never heard that Verizon's BT implementation would enable that. Get a data cable, and it might work.

Nothing wrong with reviving an old thread. Lots of us that previously followed it will get "notifications" so you have an instant audience.

Now: As far as I know the VX4500 does not have bluetooth. So ... you are stuck getting a cable and working that out.

Side note: I'm on Sprint with a Treo 650 and it works TERRIFIC as a bluetooth modem without any add-on software or patches. (Other than downloading a dial script).

I have a Sony Ericson T637 as my work phone. I am pretty sure that I could get that to work as a BT modem as well, but have not tried. (It's on AT&T/Cingular)

I've gotten it to work with my SE T616. It's slow, but it works when I need it.

This thread discussed tethering a cingular phone to a powerbook using bluetooth, and I think they discussed some of the other providers there. If not, it shouldn't hurt to bring it up.

Guys, Cingular and T-Mobile are not a problem. Verizon and Sprint are. The Treos are afaik the only well-working BT equipped phones for Verizon and Sprint. They want BT to be crippled, so that free data exchange is NOT possible.

Verizon and Bluetooth don't mix. While Verizon has the best coverage in my area, I went with Cingular when I bought my W800i because (besides being GSM) they support most of the features. When I went to the Verizon store I asked about their BT selection I was told that they had, "a huge" selection. What they had was one BT phone and a ton of BT accessories.

A Verizon Bluetooth Phone is almost as good as the oxymoron, Microsoft Works.

I have an E815 and I was able to enable full bluetooth OBEX support with a hack that's widely available. You can find it at HowardForums.

But Verizon still doesn't have a flatrate data plan for $ 20 like T-Mobile has. I know, it's not G3, but still, at least it's flat.

I'm stuck up in the "North Coast" as my friends and I dub it, and Verizon is my only choice. That said, I'm loving my Motorola e815. Full iSync capatability with Address Book(note no pictures) and iCal. I realize you can't transfer pics and ringtones which most deem "True Bluetooth support," but I live with it because I am able to use bluetooth with my PowerBook 12" and access the Internet using the e815. There is a whole thread about it somewhere on MacNN though I forget where.

Long story short: Address Book syncing, iCal syncing, and Internet all through Bluetooth(and no hacks necessary) on Verizon with a Moto e815. Just my two cents.

And yes you can get full OBEX support through a seem edit to allow(ringtone and wallpaper transfers and other things) though it requires a PC to do this no?

I just got a Verizon E815 phone. I had to buy a D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter and connect it to my sawtooth (w/10.4.3) and the phone sync'd up without a problem. Transfered my calendar and phone lists with little effort.

I'm curious as to how you connect to the internet on your E815 via bluetooth?

Verizon includes unlimited data with their plans - only takes up airtime. I seem edited my e815 and I can get online with my iBook from anywhere with no additional charge.

The Blackberry 7130 is coming out next week and it is EVDO and has Bluetooth and Verizon will fully support tethering it to a laptop for internet use on the go. I believe it is $45 per month for the unlimited data feature.
