Hi guys,

Early this morning I had to give a ride to my cousin to the airport when I spotted a hit on my car. A small but bitchy one. Yep, I got quite mad. Lately things are not that great for me, not much progress on my work, my thesis pretty much stinks and my car had been problematic (to say the least) since I had rebuilt the engine with a friend help. A total of $400 in parts, plus a fully dedicated weekend, plus the additional problematic little things just in case I get bored . I won't even mention girls

[removed unnecessary HUGE oversize image! --tooki]

I guessed that somebody, probably a male and drank, did the fantastic job of screwing up my little VW 1984 red Rabbit without leaving a note. The car was parked in the "guess only" parking spaces so probably somebody who visited a neighbor did the mess. He really needs some credit, it was a fantastic job....

Just after lunch break I was printing a note to be left on my car window to encourage the pirate to contact me when Scott, a lab mate, asked me what had happened. I guess reading the "whoever crashed on my car yesterday night without leaving a note is still able to fix the mess honorably" note and watching my face did help him notice. He is a phenomenal guy who helped me to rebuilt the engine, so he's also attached to the damn car (most of the engine grease is on his system too so he gave a ride to take a look. While I was posting the note, he took a look to other cars front sides.

There he was a Geo Prizm...parked in a owner parking lot, a neighbor....

So, we called police, placed notes and went to my apartment to grab a bite while waiting.

I was making sandwiches when scott called me, the car was leaving. I come out of my place and run like crazy. I stopped the car just when he was accessing to the road. I let him know which car I had....placed reverse gear, parked, and started apologizing...

Right now, there is a police report filed , his insurance company is aware of the problem and tomorrow I'm bringing my car for an estimate.

For once the history did not finish badly ;-)

Scott found a $5 on the floor while at it...he's so much better than a swiss knife.

There you have the whole history in photos

The photos :-)

Nevermind the grumps around here; good story, and I'm glad things are working out.

Ok, you're located in Vladivostock in the far east Siberia, on the Pacific, right? The transiberian express was for ages the only viable way to go from Moscow to Vladivostock in a decent amount of time (longest train lane in the world).

Obviously you did not hear much about it, but it is important. Besides, you're scientific background should help you here trans- a the Latin preposition meaning “across, beyond, through plus" plus siberian which is were you're located (presumably).

Second, I do not use past tense and other scientific writing tricks around here if I can ovoid it. Quite honestly, scientific writing is boring and since most people does not need to read loud, I guess they can manage long sentences. You can catch some air while at it. It will help later with the grizzly.

Big images don't usually bother me but when they force me to scroll left and right just to
read makes me just not care about your post anymore. I skipped the rest of the thread
because the lines were too long. (I broke mine up on purpose)
