That's what sucks about tatoos: can't update them easily.

The artwork is well done, but a bit too much color for my tastes. As someone who can't think of anything that I can picture myself with at 80, tattoos aren't my thing.

It's pretty nice! I have a question: how long do the colors stay vibrant? Is it something you get a good few decades out of?
When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

looks nice. i like the choice of water (japanese stylings) ... i know this guy at the gym ... he's got some bad assed tattoo's ... chinese people usually have dragons and tigers ... this guy's got a badassed black widow on his left shoulder ... forgot what he's got on his right ... rare for a chinese guy to have something considered "bad luck" ... bad assed though man ..

Why is his face red? You would think making a skin colour would be easy.... just don't colour it!

Not to mention his tan would match yours.

It's a little much for my tastes. But I still think the artwork is very well done and I personally like the bright colors!

Too much color.
Otherwise a great piece of work.

I read somewhere that you can have tattoos removed nowadays. Crazy business

As far as the tattoo, like others have said, the artwork is pretty nifty (though it's too big for my taste).

Colours = good. Go bright and vibrant, way better than black and white (boring) (and blacks more likely to fade than the colour). No reason for the colours not to stay bright if you look after it.

Big is always better as well. More scary, but better.

As to the "it'll look cr*p when you are old" crew, well you'll look sh*t anyway so what the hell does it matter if you have a tattoo?! It's game over for looking good naked then so it really doesn't matter.

I agree. I wouldn't like for my tats to show when I'm wearing a short-sleeved shirt.

That's a great piece.

To those who say "too much color" or "too big" or whatever: you're missing the point. If SamuraiDL had wanted a smaller, less colorful tattoo, he could have gotten it. He got what he wanted, and that's what matters!

As for it being "superficial" -- bullshit. People don't just get modifications in order to show off. I get them because I like them. Even if nobody were around, I'd still want them. I actually don't like the attention I get because of my piercings, but it's something I'm willing to put up with because I like having them.

As for age: it's better to regret the things you did than to regret all the things you wanted to do and never did. Besides, skin ages whether or not it's tattooed. You'll be saggy and wrinkled either way!

Great choice of artist, btw, I've heard lots of good things about Merrill. (He also has a great septum piercing!)

I really don't get why people get these things. If you could take them away easily they would be cool. But they **** up you body for the rest of your life, and when you are old and have a tatoo like that it just looks stupid and ugly.

He asked if we like it in the thread title. Many of us have said, "yes, I like X, but not Y." Doesn't seem like we're "missing the point" to me.

As has been pointed out already, by the time you reach that age you're pretty damned ugly already, what does it matter?
