I am having a problem with a guy who is harassing a friend of mine via email. I want to see if there is a way to figure out the guys identity to start a legal action against him.
His address is jorsantosgar@hotmail.com and any help you could give me is much appreciated.
Thanks

Just block them or set up a script to trash the email right away.

The problem is that we want to start legal action against him due to the harassing emails. He made a couple divorce and thankfully they are back together.

What's the IP address of the person in question? Take that to the police and tell them to call the ISP (provide them with that too) and get an identity on the guy.
But causing a marriage to end? That doesn't sound like the marriage is all that sturdy to begin with.

If you know that the address is a legitimate Hotmail address, send an e-mail to abuse@hotmail.com. Hopefully, they have something about harassment in their terms of service. If you suspect the address may be fake (could happen if the guy is stalking you), then do the following: Assuming you're reading the message from this guy in Mail, go to the View menu -> Message -> Long Headers. If you're using some other e-mail program, find the option to view the full headers - most e-mail programs have the option somewhere. Now, look at the headers that say "Received:", and find the last one. That one should tell you what ISP the e-mail came from. Now, you can send an e-mail to abuse@whatever ISP it is and report the abuse. Make sure to forward a complete copy of the e-mail to them, including all the headers.

Not necessarily. Depends what the comments were. If they were accusations or people letting the spouse know the "truth" then that could be quite serious.
