Vivendi Universal Games is expected to formally announce a November 26th release date for Half-Life 2 in Europe shortly, along with a US release three days earlier, after informing UK retail partners of the date this week.

Valve delivered a release candidate to VU on September 15th, and although an official 'Gold' announcement has still yet to emerge, retail sources in the UK indicate that they have now been given notice of the expected late November date.

Reports of a late November release for HL2 are popping up on gaming news sites left, right and centre. The story originated in this Eurogamer article, which claimed that VUG told its retail partners in the UK that HL2 is expected to be released on November 23rd in the US and three days later in Europe.
However, the number of anonymous "sources" being cited in these articles and Valve's reaffirmation that they "do not have a release date from VUG" casts some level of doubt on the developments — we'll keep you updated. Thanks to HL2.net for the heads up.
