I am curious as to what size people's web browsers are set to. I have my window set to 800x600 while my home computer is display is 1152x870 and at my moms the screen is 1280x960 (17" and 19" CRT Respectively).

Do most people browse with their window full screen? or as a small window? I know on Windows almost everyone browses in full-screen (and it is the way to go on windows in my opinion). Should I set it to full-screen or not? I can't decide. I came to browsing at 800x600 years ago since that's what everyone did for testing my website designs etc.

I'm currently bored enough to actually take a screenshot and find out.
1061 x 908 on a 1280 x 960 screen.
It goes from the menubar at the top to the dock (which is slightly above minimum size) at the bottom. Then it's centered horizontally so that there's space on the right for me to get to my icons and iChat and on the left to get to Mail and any other apps I have open.

Same here...

869*724 on a 15" crt iMac, 1024*768
I have my dock on the right side, so I can see, if there are new emails, messages etc.
And I can access my networkdrives without hiding my browser.

Mine are around 900x750px. Wider windows result in lines of text too long for easy legibility. (This is on a 1280x854 display.)

Assuming we're just measuring the content area, a little less than 1100x600 on a 15" display.

Mine is just wide enough to display the page without horizontal scrolling. And not quite as tall as the screen. On the Mac, few people run their apps full screen, which is nothing more than a way of working around built-in Windows inefficiencies.

Right now, mine's at 763x742.

I like to have a little room left over to click on other windows, stuff on the Desktop, etc.

Interesting little topic.

I like to have my window at "paper" width, and as tall as my screen. I really like having it taller than it is wide -- it seems I'm the only one with that setup so far.

Thanks to the wonderful Web Developer Extension for Firefox, I see that makes 860 x 1100

Mostly full screen on my iBook's display, full size meaning all the way across but only as high as the menubar and dock will let it. But right now there is about a dock's size gap on the right side and it's fine. I don't view smaller than that, really.

I also design websites to fit well on 800x600. If you're running smaller than that then I don't care if you can see it properly.

If you want to know exactly what the viewport size of the browser is (bit that actually displays the web pages) then typing in something like:
Code:
javascript: alert('height: ' + document.offsetHeight + ', width: ' + document.offsetWidth)
in Safaris URL bar will let you know. There're obviously better ways, and I didn't know that document had height and width attached (doesn't in Moz, for example) - but anyway, that's a topic for the web developer forum I would image, so I'll stop boring people

Edit: there shouldn't be a space between java and script...

At home, I use bookmarklets to adjust the size as needed. When looking at GUI stuff, I go full screen on the 17. If not, I usually go a little smaller. I also have right and left split-screen commands in case I'm doing anything else on the Mac at the time, or if I want to check a widget or on the process of something in the background without needing expose or to minimize/maximize.
At work, I go full screen.

I'm always resizing to suit the page I'm looking at. Which is why I still use Safari, the green traffic light resizes to fit the current page. Camino and Firefox aren't that clever, clicking the green button just gives you full screen and back again.

No, that's about how I keep mine. The size of the PowerBook's screen limits the maximum height, of course!

If I had a taller screen, my browser window's height would be greater than its width. Unfortunately, 1024x768 limits this.
