NEW YORK (Reuters) - Brewer Anheuser-Busch says it will introduce a caffeinated, sweet-flavored beer for twentysomething club goers to compete with the flavored rums and vodkas gaining ground on the dance floor.

What happened to suffering through case after case as a high schooler—developing a taste for beer? Where is the work ethic? *sigh*

Have you tried Japanese whisky? Try some single malt Hibiki Suntory, Yamazaki, or Yoichi and you feelings towards scotch may change. The Japanese make whisky that is just as good or better than scotch.

It's a drink to appeal to college students. Now you can get drunk without pranks of whether or not what you drank really was piss water.

Who, or what actually won the US election? Intolerance. The Bush campaign was built around pushing God down people's throats; attacking Gays; and more Guns for the idiotic. Gays, Guns & God. Congratulations, you just participated in one big joke.

Diabolic, indeed. What's the 12% stand for - "12% alcohol" or "may contain 12% actual beer"?

(edit: found a very nice translation describing the product):

Under "taste data", they state: "It is blond, dense, tasty and long in the mouth."

hmmm ...

The 12%, sometimes also refered as 12°, is the Stammwürze in the wort.

Basic ingredients / Stammwürze
Stammwürze is the mass of basic elements in unfermented wort malt sugar, proteins, vitamins, flavoring elements which through the addition and interaction with water are dissolved out of the malt. From this basic mass of fermentable material about a third becomes alcohol, a third carbon dioxide and a third residual extract after fermentation. Stammwürze content and alcohol content are closely related, where as the Stammwürze is three times greater than the amount of alcohol. A quantitative measure, Stammwürze is expressed in percentage where by the varous types of beer are divided into four categories: Simple- or Einfach beer up to 7%, Schank or Draft beer more than 7% and less than 11%, full beer from 11% - 16%, and strong beer over 16%, of which Bock beer is at least 16% and Double Bock at least 18%.

Many. Actually, to be fair, I found some decent microbrews.
The smaller and less known, the better.
Does stil not compare to the excellent Bavarian beers !

Just forget everything that comes from A-Busch !

I wasn't sure about you, but I know that most people here in the thread don't know the difference between % alcohol and % Stammwuerze...

Hehe. Actually the usual insult is that French-Canadians are only good at drinking beer.

But I'll accept that too.

You're absolutely right, of course. And while I'm no beer expert, I was aware of the reference on the bottle - here, everything revolves around Bier, Sauerkraut and Würstchen, after all. Just didn't feel like getting out the big "Umlaut-Words" that early in the thread.

hold up hold up

america is so large that you cannot dismiss all american beers are shite

some breweries in NY here are pretty decent (i would say "micro-brewery" but since they cater in NY and are popular locally [9 mil population], they are much larger than a normal "micro-brewery")

I have had some great beers from seattle, boston and chicago as well. but admittedly, the best mainstream beers are from europe and japan.

so there
