When I first read it, I thought it said snowboard travelers.

Even monks are living under our "great" system, sadly: so, in order to survive, they must sell something, eventually...
(Now, the question if monks couldn't have given a better contribution to society in other ways - without isolating themselves from the world, maybe? - is quite another matter, of course.)

Somehow it's kind of nice to know their are still monks in the world. Too bad they can't afford their dogs anymore. And the catholic church so rich, too.
