So get this, apparently the company that produces the ONLY struts available for the subaru SVX, called SHOWA, produced a bad batch of rear struts. Remember how back in July I put ina whole new suspension? Yep. Bad rear struts. So after only 4500 miles, they're completely freakin' blown. Luckily, the parts are under warranty, but they don't cover the installation. Anwyay, since I had a driver's side rear wheel bearing in the middle of dying, I figured 2 birds with one stone. Called on place, they wanted over $600 to install the struts and the wheel bearing. Found a place about 40 minutes north, ONLY $225.

Cool.

Anyway, this better freakin' last or it might be time for my beloved SVX to go bye bye. I'm getting sick of working on god damn suspension systems, hence why I'm paying someone else to put the new struts in this time. It's a good car, the drivetrain is tip top, but man, this is annoying. 177k runs like a champ, but ugh.....

thats a long limp to a garage, but for $375 its really worth it. and you dont have to pay to get it towed there... best of luck that they dont get all stupid on you and change the price.

got the $225 quote in writing? might be a good idea.

Koni only sells INSERTS, whichs means I would have to take all 4 strust OUT of my car, CUT the damn tops off, install the inserts, REWELD the top of the strust, fill with oil, resintall. No ****ing thank you.

Generally no. But I don't have a hub tamer, and you cannot just 'press' the new bearing in, you HAVE to use a hub tamer. Since I needed someone to do this, the rear suspension si going to be apart, so I asked hwo much to install the new struts, and it wasn't much more at all.

But yeah, I'm getting sick of it. I'd prefer to just enjoy the drive, and spend my money on UPGRADES, not fixing things. Not that anything 'unreliable' has happened, in fact, that's the best part of this car. Maybe I'll get an original mini and shove the SVX's engine in the back seat or something.

Yep. It used to be pretty active back when I worked at Cuna and had internet access and a boring ass job. Now I only do something to it once every 1-2 weeks. Oh well.

Yea, that page says "ca$h" all over it. Except car sound guys would say the same thing about his choice of audio components as he says about certain types of things people do to their cars.

Huge difference. First off, my audio system SOUNDS much better than stock. In comparison, the average ricer with bling bling wheels, cut springs, bodykit, etc has actually DECREASED his car's performance. Secondly, I'm not an audiophile, nor do I claim to be. I understand the basics: Good reciever, quality amp, quality wiring, and good speakers. In my last hunt for 6X9s, I went to over 6 different stores and listened to every 6X9 I could find.... the polk's won, with the exceiption of one other brand/model that was listed over $300. Lastly, my audio install was not done for show, or to 'look good'. I did it to improve the place I listen to music the most, and it has, DRASTICALLY. So sure, if you think my audio system is poser-ish, please try to prove your point.

I like pointing out the stupidity of stupid people. I hate how they spread stupidity like a disease and the unknowing accept their ******** (the wing on my civic makes me go faster!). I'm trying to help educate the automotive world.

And this post is a great example of why we teach children in schools, not beat stupid children to death with heavy books.

Yes but unfortunately the schools do not teach simple things like "stupidity is bad, and you should not respect stupid people". It's unfortunate that so many people get so famous.
