Michael Eisner announced that Disney is moving forward on a third and fourth film in the Toy Story series without the involvement of former animation partner Pixar, New York Newsday reported. "We're doing two Toy Stories at once," Eisner said during a Goldman Sachs investment conference in New York on Oct. 5. A spokeswoman for the company confirmed that there are two story ideas being developed.

Toy Story was the first feature collaboration between Disney and Pixar and became a box-office hit in 1995. Toy Story 2, originally planed as a direct-to-video project, achieved similar success in 1999. Though Disney's partnership with Pixar dissolved last year, the studio retains the rights to make sequels to the films on its own. At the conference, Eisner outlined the studio's plans for additional computer-animated films, including Chicken Little, which he said will cost half as much as competitors spend on such films, the newspaper reported.

Hopefully they'll go straight-to-video and sink without a trace. But yeah, I hope the original actors refuse to do them.

If its as high quality as the hand drawn Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Video, or the TV show... then it will suck.

foolish, foolish Eisner... they have to realize pixar isn't just the animation, but the writing. Toy Story was successful because of good writing that appealed to adults and kids, boys and girls.

If Hanks and Allen won't do the voices, I'm sure they'll get whoever is doing the cartoons.

And verily, it will suck.

The animation is wonderful but it's the writing that makes me want to see the films again.

My guess is Disney is putting pressure on Pixar with this information.

They maybe working on story ideas, but I bet they have spent nothing on the animation yet.

It is going to be difficult for Disney to do 'real' sequels, they will never get the characters right. These will be computer animation and I bet Pixer will not give the models to Disney.

No doubt Pixar will be totally hating the thought of 2 'rip-off' versions of their artwork, but they can do nothing about it other than make it difficult for Disney or sign up for a new deal and make them together.

If Disney make these 2 films they will be very poor compared to the originals and will damage the Pixar reputation.

Disney sequels make me cry. I don't think I have ever ever seen a good Disney sequel. In fact most of them look like the animators/writers resigned themselves to the Walmart clearance bin before they even started working on the project.

That's because they are not produced by Disney Feature Animation, they are turned out by the Disney TV Division, very different quality standards !!

They don't have quality writers, and just replay versions of the same story, they don't even stay true to the characters personality. The Animation is also much rougher as the direct to video route requires less quality for the small screen.

I can see the advertising now - 'From the makers of Toy Story' which is legally true as Disney paid towards the making of the films.

Even if they choose to not use those words, the original films are seen as much as from Disney as Pixar as far as the general public are aware. They will not see a split and will think it's the same company making the films. Disney will milk the tie in to previous movies.
