i_rooster, you used the (big images) warning, but your picture is still huge. please shrink it a bit so it doesn't prop open the browser window (and i'm running at 1280x1024).

Dude, if you got half of his skill, I'm impressed. That dragon was absolutely incredible. I wish I could do anything even close to that. I think I might have some more shots of it, and the full size image of that one, if you want them.

good times.

Sent. Just out of curiosity, how much would a dragon like the one in the picture cost?

i think he was asking 12k for that big 6 footer in the picture there. i heard through the grapevine that he sold it in minnesota at the faire there, which is a good thing, because with that piece he had to cut off the top of the wings everytime he moved it... wouldn't fit in his stock trailer.
billy is a great guy, i really wish he had a site, so i could advertise it to all you fine folk.

Can't remember what it is called.....But ShortcutToMoncton might know.
I cannot express how lucky I am to be living only an hour and a half from this place.

Really bad shot (first time I'd used my then-new Minolta Dimage 7i), but you get the idea. Western Brook pond, Newfoundland, Canada. If I remember correctly, the falls are at least several hundred feet high...taller than the Niagaras, anyway. It was taken from a boat.
Sorry Daracle, haven't been to those. Unfortunately, we're a little farther away from the Rockies than you guys down in Calgary....

Salmon river falls. These are about 25 minutes from my house. Maybe tomorrow if I don't have anything else going on, I'll take a hike up there and get some pictures. Foliage is at it's fall peak right now, so it should be really pretty.
Oh, and that's not my picture. I googled for the falls, and ironically, the first result was the homepage of a guy I graduated from high school with. Tons of waterfall pictures on his site from all over NY State and elsewhere. That's an odd coincidence.

And this is a different waterfall up in Cairns. Doesn't look that heavy, but I nearly drowned trying to tread water under that fall, and I'm quite a strong swimmer. Scary stuff.

Some lovely waterfalls here. And D4nth3M4n didn't know there was a sculptor in you. Perhaps you can show us your work sometime?
You can shower in Dawson's Falls in Wells Grey Provincial Park in British Columbia:
But we saw later, that if you slip and fall into the current, this awaits you just two minutes downstream:
And here's one more waterfall, this time from Micronesia:

I did hike up to the falls today and get some pictures. I'm processing them right now, so I should have them posted soon. I hope you guys appreciate it, my girlfriend is ready to kill me. We hiked the 6 miles up the river. It never occurred to me to mention that we could have driven right to the top of the falls and and walked about 200 feet. Who would have thought she would have preferred that option?

This is an awesome thread. I really enjoyed all the pics.
ThinkInsane - did you use a tripod for those shots? Cool pictures. Too bad people have to write their name on the rocks.

No tripod, just a point and click Kodak 3.1 megapixel. When I finally break down and buy my D70, I'll lug the tripod up there and get some shots. Or I could use my 35mm SLR, but I hate having to scan pictures
I have jumped off of those falls, but it's only really safe to do it in the spring when the water down below is really high. The results when the water level drops are not good. In one of the pics on my page, it says "I'll never forget you Kyle". That kid jumped in August after a long dry summer. The water below was only about eight feet deep (He jumped right where I am laying on the edge, you can see the girls name "Jenna" to my left, I believe she was one of the people with him when it happened). That meant he fell 140 feet with the water level down that far. I'm on the counties SAR team. I got to hoist him up the hill after the fished him out of the water. Most calls we get up there are for broken bones. People don't realize you need a good running start as the cliff face is further out the lower down you get. They jump from the edge and do a Homer Simpson all the way down, just a bouncin' off the strata all the way down. Another problem is novice rock climbers that don't realize all that loose shale is pretty unforgiving if you grab on to it. It's a great place for ice climbing in the winter though.
The DEC has talked about removing all the graffiti, but ultimately decided it was pointless unless they close off the area.
