In the 80s Ibanez got a great rep for making great playing guitars. Their version of the "Floyd Rose" tremolo was one of the best out there. In the 90s when grunge hit the scene those types of guitars became "unpopular"

Ibanez still makes them, and now makes them even better. They just improved the way floating double locking tremolos work. And it has me impressed so much, I am thinking about seriously buying one.

Here is the pic of the trem disassembled.

The difference between this trem and their normal FR version is, this one has a "Zero Resistance" feature which takes care of ALL the problems and complaints I had about floating trems.

If you break a string on this trem, it doesn't knock the rest of the guitar out of tune.

When doing double stops, the trems stays still. No moving and knocking the strings sharp or flat.

It's a adjust once, leave it a lone trem. And it works just like a regular floyd. It ALSO comes with a drop-d option on the low E.

I also LOVE thin guitar necks and small guitars. I also want a guitar I can slap EMG (Active) pickups in for direct computer recording. I've owned a few Sabers in my life and liked them all. Here is a pic of the one I am going to get.

Here is the info on the Ibanez site.

http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar...1625FB&z=y

It's one of their "Prestige" models (They are the only ones that come with the new trem)

It has a nice Mahogany body. And a figured Bubinga top Body

The neck is maple with Bubinga reinforcement Neck Material. It's a thin neck so it needs reinforcement.

It's not PRS, nor is it a luxury guitar. But I love it. The EMGs will look and sound great in this guitar.

Ibanez really topped themselves again.

They even have gotten into the neck through the body designs with some of their guitars.

They aren't that cheap however.

This is what I like about Wizard necks by Ibanez.

The guitar neck on the left is like a Strat neck and like most guitars.

The neck on the right is a Wizard neck. Much wider and thinner.

I love necks like that. And Ibanez is the only company that makes them this wide and thin.

I love trems when used properly. And for what I want to do, it will come in handy.

The very things that made me NOT a fan of trems are FIXED with this trem. So I am anxious to really give it a try.

Active pickups are great for signal and clarity for a modern sound. They don't get that "vintage" sound however. Not something I am going after right now anyhow.

Here is a GREAT article on the new Ibanez trems.

The regular one

And the Zero Resistance one.

After reading that, I am sold.

I can't wait.

I've always liked the playability of Ibanez guitars. The build quality, however, leaves some to be desired, even on high-end models. Don't get me wrong, they are good guitars but they can't hold a candle to Gibsons, PRS, or high-end Fenders. It seems like there is always something not quite up to spec: a bad jack, poorly soldered pot, etc. Ibanez guitars have gotten better but I am still hesitant to chalk them up as a contender for any major endorsements. I might like to add one to my life but I won't rush out to do so.

The low end models I would agree. But not the high end ones. The USA Customs and the Prestige models are all well built guitars. Esp in the past 2 to 3 years.

Don't get me wrong, they are good guitars but they can't hold a candle to Gibsons, PRS, or high-end Fenders.

Nonsense. I have owned Gibsons, Fenders, and own a PRS right now. Funny thing is, Ibanez has a habit of making guitars with REALLY low action without any buzz. Something I haven't seen consistently with ANY of those guitar manufacturers above you named.

It seems like there is always something not quite up to spec: a bad jack, poorly soldered pot, etc. Ibanez guitars have gotten better but I am still hesitant to chalk them up as a contender for any major endorsements. I might like to add one to my life but I won't rush out to do so.
They have changed in the past 5 or so years. It used to be just the custom guitars were worth a darn. Now most any high end Ibanez are of great quality.

Ok which of the two do you think is better looking?

The thing is, the right and left both have "tops" that look different from guitar to guitar. So...

I like the one on the left, the pattern makes it a bit more interesting. Are you picking one up?

Going to get one of them. Yes.

Buying EMG pickups for it at the same time. I don't like the sound of the pickups. Never did.

I want a modern sound. And I will be using it for a lot of direct computer recording. So the active pickups will come in great.
