We should do a winning photography contest here. Maximum two shots included in single post entry, and volunteer judges.

Hmmm....maybe the logistics would be a little hard. And those damn pros would clean up.

That sounds like fun. We could have a new thread on the 1st of each month. It's true the pros would clean up, but that's cool, we all get to look at their photos and get to see what everyone's been up to.

I just need a way of posting pics now....

a photo contest would certainly be a lot easier to get organized than a film competition

altho we'd need some narrow rules so that people couldn't just grab existing images online.

Good idea, I'd participate, although I probably won't win, seeing what the others have already done

I'm not sure how to check authenticity, but since there is no official prize ...

Nice weather. When I was in Kyoto for o-hanami, it rained like he||. Needless to say that I didn't feel like taking any sophisticated pictures.

PS Your pics of Japan remind me of my time there, I know many of the locations, and I stood just there, a couple months ago Me miss Japan.

I think it's a great idea. Who wants to organize it?

Please do it after the 22nd (I have an exam there and virtually no time before that). We could do either a special thread about it and let all members vote or select a `professional' jury among us which is not allowed to participate. I remember that demonhood's pictures looked pretty awesome, too, so maybe he might be in the jury ...

How about several categories: people/portrait, landscape/architecture, nature, etc?

In that way, jurors could participate in another section ... just an idea.

How would that jury be selected? We do not KNOW for sure if the people we select are good judges. People who take fine pictures aren't necesserally good judges. A judge must remain impartial and objective all the time.

Well, it's just a small thing for us MacNNers, so I don't think we should overdo ourselves. We could do polls, too, so this wouldn't necessarily reflect `artistic value', but `popularity'. I wouldn't mind either way, for me, it's more for fun and to enjoy other people's pictures.

there could be a couple different categories and the prize could be...a custom macnn forum title maybe.

i think this topic needs it's own thread.
