Okay, another disclaimer. No politics. No who won. No "so-and-so is such an idiot" talk. Just this question...

The debate ends and everybody smiles and shakes hands and hugs. These guys have to despise each other, right? They're repulsed by each other... The country (U.S. we're talkin' here) is divided and even the candidates' wives couldn't be more different. Yet they hug and smile and exchange pleasantries. Does it reek of phoniness to you guys? Is this a "duh!" question, as in of course it's phony. It's politics.

I mean, Americans on different sides of the political spectrum can barely tolerate one another these days... There is true bitterness. How do these two look one another in the eye and find it in themselves to smile?

I'm rambling. Sorry. Discuss.

There is no candidate that represents me.

Don't bother voting, we don't elect the president anyway.

I agree these guys must truly hate each other's guts by this point. No human being could avoid taking at least some of it personally.

On the other hand, they're politicians, and they have to work with people they despise all the time. Come to think of it, I guess most of us have to do that at work one way or another. But they do have it pretty bad.

Poor fellas

Wouldn't it be hot to see Laura Bush and Teresa Heinz Kerry in a mud wrestling match?

DEFINITELY not. And anyway, Laura Bush would rip Heinz-Kerry's arms off with her Stepford-robot strength. Not that it wouldn't be a favor to the world.

Further derails own thread:
Yeah, b/c a smart, philanthropic, outspoken woman with her own money and a point of view is surely a threat.

Because - by doing that it makes them look like they are fair and honest. Notice how Bush kept trying to get the last word - that was for the cameras. It's like those two sqirrels in the old Looney Tunes (I think it was Looney Tunes) that kept saying "after you. No! I insist, after you! No, you go first."
