I know there are some guitar-heads here... do you buy guitar gear online? Places you recommend/avoid?
I'd like to get an effects pedal and I'm leaning towards a GNX2. Yay or nay? A buddy of mine wants to build a stomp box with various pedals but I don't have the inclination to go that route. I want something easy to use and portable. Any recommendations here?
Thanks.

I've used Elderly Instruments several times and have been quite pleased with the quality of their service. www.elderly.com

DO NOT BUY ONLINE FROM ELDERLY!!! Get in your choice of mode of transportation and make the pilgrimage to their headquarters!!! Go an a Saturday afternoon and you will be blessed with a live performance most likely. Best Guitar store on Earth!
I live about 25 miles from there and go in about every few months. It's the one store my wife and I can agree to spend a couple hours in.
You can play everything including $20,000 Martins and plug into any AMP you want to. They also have a good supply of other stringed instruments like Violins and stand up basses.
But if you want, buy online. It is the next best place to buy if you can't get their in person. But you are really shorting your self a great experience by not going to the store in person.

Kilbey, I've been there several times, I live in Lansing so my pilgrimage across town is about 10 mins Their amp room is a bit crowded, but yeah, they have quite a selection. A nice big amp is out of the question right now since I'm an apt dweller. I do, however, pick up a Les Paul Custom every time I step foot in there, yet can't bring myself to drop $2500 for one.
It's nice to know others have heard of Elderly's and give them a .

Don't rule out a nice big amp b/c you're in an apt. I've got a dual 12" Vox in my apt and it works just fine

Stay away from Musician's Friend. Highly over priced.
