quote

"Controversial US PC vendor Liebermann has shut its doors. According to an open letter to customers posted on the company's web site, it is "no longer in a position, from a financial standpoint, to continue doing business".

and

"Liebermann was launched in September 2003 and immediately drew fire for its website's blatant imitation of Apple's, not to mention the Apple-like approach to the styling of its PC products. Its descriptions of products were a sea of new technology brand names and a ocean of trademarks.

The company's fondness for hyperbole and florid language is well displayed in its (farewell?) missive: "Like no other has such a small company managed so to quickly to be so inventive and groundbreaking and like no other has a young business in technology so rapidly reached the minds and hearts of so many people from all parts of the globe and capture their imagination."

and

"And the company's collapse comes while it was on the verge of shipping a number of new systems - all due for a Q4 2004 release, according to the website - including a line of high-performance small form-factor PCs, a 5GHz personal super computer, a 64-bit Media Center PC and a Xeon-based dual-processor notebook. Liebermann claims to have working prototypes, but alas it now appears they will never see light of day."
... 5ghz? ... no way ... lol

Oh well, there's always Alienware and Falcon Northwest....

Or hey, they could get an Apple, I suppose.

Did they actually ship any product or was it all Vaporware? I remember they had an awesome concept display that used 3 LCD panels.

yes.
I read a review of there computers.
That company went out of business because its computers were too fast. No one believed there was a 5GHz PC - and yet they made one.

I remember reading about this company a year or more ago. Their web site was really bizarre, which, combined with some of their more extravagant claims about their products, lead people to think that it was really just some kind of spoof site. Apparently their computers did exist (at least a few of them) but they weren't exactly Apple's PC counterpart. Not by a long-shot.

we dont know that they actually made a 5ghz pc .. it'll never see the light of day either. i doubt it. when intel says they cant hit 4ghz, and others have overclocked to 5ghz using liquid nitrogen ...

the cool thing about it was the "logo/emblem" .. they had it cut from different stones .. to make it extremely personal. oh .... i think woods as well .. not just stones .. .maybe even glass. they wanted each one to be unique and the grain/streaks in the wood/stone can not be duplicated. each machine would be unique from any other one because of that logo ... was a neat touch.. not enough for any sane person to spend money on though..

Yah that's a pretty nifty LCD setup. Imagine if Apple shipped a notebook with fold out screens... that'd be trippy... really thick, but trippy.

You need to be surrounded by porn?

What in the world would you need that for other then a flight simulator?

Because if it isn't porn, SWG can't think of a joke!

I know of a few personal security types who have computer setups that literally demand them being surrounded by LCD/CRTs. I bet if they could buy a setup like that and reduce the amount of computers they have to maintain down to one, they'd jump at it in a second.

BUT YOU'RE RIGHT, PORN IS THE OBVIOUS, END ALL BE ALL, OF ANSWERS.
