Why would Talib lower himself to play with the Beasties?
We saw Kweli at a closed show in East Lansing over the summer. Maybe 100 people in the building. It was one of the best performances I've ever been to.
His stuff is WAY better than any of that crap they play on the radio. Maybe it's bc he went to college and actually knows abotu black history...
iTMS - newest album <1 and 12 sound pretty good.
I haven't listened to this one yet, but Reflection Eternal is my favorite hip hop album (too bad it's not on iTMS).

Well, that really doesn't mean anything because Ludacris has a degree from GA State University. I used to see him on campus when I was there. He's an intelligent guy but he comes off on his albums as a thug.

talib, lowering himself for the beasties? in no way do i see that as lowering himself. nope.
and as a bonus to not lowering himself, he's surely getting paid more at these huge venues than he was at your intimate rendezvous.
oh, and yea.. radio/club hip hop sucks.
talib kweli is probably my fav-o-rite emcee, with a lil mos def, chali-2na, ad-rock, mike-d..common, kanye.. hmm.. gotta go to the concert!

I just found out the Roots and Common are coming to Detroit in a few weeks. That's about the only good reason to go downtown...

best concert in years. got a little crazy on the floor there.. pits are a fun 'throwback'.
btw... i used a borrowed ticket to get in to the concert.. 'PRIVATE CLUB' it said on my ticket.. i was told to go to the third level of the Office Depot Center, and when I got there, the fried raviolis, shrimp, roast beef and red snapper (among other things) was flowing. a little fresh kiwi and (EDIT:cantaloupe) for dessert and I was back in the game.
a bit later, we made it to the floor.
Talib Kweli and the Beastie Boys were solid as hell.. **** yea.
I had a shitload of fun.
