The speed issue once again, but this time, Intel is in the defensive and AMD in in the offensive.

Although the clock speed for Advanced Micro Devices’ new chips, the Athlon 64 4000 + and Athlon 64 FX-55, is slower than the 3.6 GHz registered by Intel’s fastest Pentium chip, AMD claims that the chips have features that make them the fastest PC chips, according to Jonathan Seckler, AMD’s desktop product manager.

Mr. Seckler contended that the new chips can out-compute a 4-GHz Intel chip.

...

An Intel spokesman countered that AMD is making a false comparison because it isn’t able to run the new Athlon chips side by side against an actual 4-GHz chip.

Klingon is what you're thinking of, but the phrase is much older than Star Trek.

Why do you *always* post that pic in a thread about Intel or the speed of PC's?

Because he wants to show that people who want a computer that looks like a plumber failed his final, you can get 4GHz.

So Intel says you cannot compare a processor to one that doesn't exist? I say you can!

The 3GHz PowerMac G5 is faster than the 4Ghz Intel! So THERE!
