How does buying at an affiliate store (Apple Store, Amazon, etc, support MacNN? Do we have to use the links in the "Support MacNN" thread for MacNN to get credit?

I'm not sure, but to hazard a guess I'd say it works when you go to (and buy from) those places by clicking a link on MacNN which uses the 'referer' attribute to let them know who sent the customer their way.

Yes it had to do with the referrer IDs that are sent along with clicking the links MacNN provides. This thread is quite off-topic here. Moving it to the lounge.

i believe it's a cut of the sale. for the apple store, if you click our link i think it keeps us as your referrer for up to a week.

I bet donation is the best way to go for supporting MacNN.
Recently, MacInTouch.com yanked the iTunes affiliate link off its site.. Ric told me that the program just doesn't make the cut and the link slows down its site.
