I knew Dr. Bridget Wagner (mentioned in the article) and one of the other passengers on that plane (both of whom died in the crash). Dr. Wagner leaves behind three little girls (ages 5 - 9) and the other person I knew left behind two little boys (ages 6 and 8).
Well it's good that some people survived, but there was that famous airliner crash in Salt Lake City (I think) where about 50% of the passengers of a jumbo jet survived, so it's not thaaat unlikely.

True enough, but this was a commuter plane, and it's still a miracle. Also, it's not mentioned in the article, but the doctor that survived was worked on by one of his former students (or so I was told by a coworker this morning).
