Don't have a story as this person is a minor and they're keeping her name out of the paper.

But somewhere between 7:00AM and 8:00AM a 9th grade girl attempted to hang herself in a high school bathroom, only to be discovered by her sister.

She's been rushed to a hospital in a neighboring town, and is on life support.
I'm only mentioning this because the high school was the one I used to attend so it kinda hit a little close to home.

My co-workers has TWO friend that both tried to kill themselves by overdosing but instead just wake up days later with a headache and 3 days less pay. Nothing more depressing then that!

Funny you should mention this topic. Last night at work I found a patient that had hung herself in her room. She had a pulse when I got her cut down, but wasn't breathing. She seems to be doing fine today though. Kind of messed up my night though.

My prayers go out to the young lady, her family, and friends. A very sad situation, she must have been in terrible pain. I she survives, may she find help.

And what do you do for a living may I ask - I'm assuming something in the mental health / psych end of things...

I always think "sexual abuse" when I hear stuff like this. Doesn't mean that's what it is, I know. It's just always my initial thought.
Do you want forgiveness or respect?

You guessed it. I work as a guard in a psychiatric hospital. I spend most of my time working in the psych ER, so most of our patients are coming through the door pretty well unhinged. This lady tied the bed sheet around her neck, tied it off on the side rail of her bed, and though herself over the rail. It was just pure chance that I happened to notice. On average, we get between 8 and 12 attempted suicides a day. Before I worked here, I would never have thought that many people would try and off themselves.

Yah, at my old college, long after I left, some guy (successfully) hanged himself from a tree. I'd hate to have been the morning jogger who found him.

Then at my current school, a grad student's boyfriend came onto campus, shot her dead, and then killed himself, too. I'd left campus about 15 minutes before that happened.

i don't know, everytime I read something like this I have a mixed reaction. One is sorrow for the person, their family, etc. It's automatic, I'm human above all other things.

The other is hard to describe, not quite hatred, but kind of like resent. We all had/have problems, plenty of them. Most of us choose to work through them, and usually come out on top, or at least better off alive. Either way it's disturbing that someone would choose to take the 'easy' road.

Its very sad indeed, I know a number of people that have tried to kill themselves, some successful. Not as interesting as thinkinsane's story but last summer I had three calls (ambulance) for attempted suicides, 2 drug overdoses and one old man that had cut both of his wrists, easily one of the saddest calls I have ever had.

It is indeed sad to see so many people working through their problems then knowing someone who just takes the "easy" way, not really thinking about how it'll affect those left behind
