Yeah the Coltrane was done by none other than Robert Hernandez from Madrid, and the Miles was done by also an amazing artist, Bob Tyrrell from Detroit.

I can imagine how women must love your tattoos. I bet they tell all their friends that you have tattoos of guys tattooed permanently inches from your junk.

OK. Here's my uncensored opinion of those tattoos.
I think you are going to regret them and I think they are an impulsive decision.
The art work is good, but the subject matter in it's location is questionable.

It's just not like he can go to the tattoo-eraser after hearing your opinion.

actually, traditionally Portrait tattoos fit very well on upper thigh areas, due to large smooth canvas. But it seems you wouldn't know that. And the only girl who has seen those up close and personal, does indeed think they are great, however the look in Miles eyes kinda bugs her out... me too lol. As for regrets, none possible. I have been studying and playing jazz for the last ten years. Hey man I think skin is great, but i also think tattoos are great too... to each his won.

Do you think Miles or Coltrane have tattos on their thighs of other Jazz artists?
I have never understood the allure of tattoos.
I donate blood regularly and if you have a tattoo you are restricted from donating for one year. Too restrictive. I do not want anything keeping me or other people from donating blood.

Nice, not my thing (religous prohibition thereof)... but they look really good.
Unfortunately, I can't donate blood (too much time in UK as i recall). Would if I could. (if I'm mistaken on the 3+mo/UK rule for US blood donations, please enlighten me)

The artwork is fantastic (though I could never really imagine doing something that large and permanent). I think I see your ulterior motive though. I spent a large chunk of my late teens and early 20's trying to get women approximately eye-level with my crotch ... you just saved yourself a lot of work, buddy

I think these pics demonstrate what these tats are really all about: having an excuse to pull your pants down.
Bravo! Now all you need to do is get Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole on your back thighs.

They were done by a very, very good tattooist!! My god.
Absolutely awesome work, if not the best I have seen for a very long time! Grats!!
I find that with tattoos, people give very polarised responses. Love or Hate. There is no middle ground.
As long as the person who has them likes them, it matters not what others think. The way I come to terms with it is, that I love my tattoos, some hate them, that fact that I love them is all that matters. Such is life.
Peace out,
TPC

TIMELINE PLEASE!!!!
Sorry, couldn't resist!
and I have this picture of Miles Dewey Davis III as a poster in front of my toilet...

...and every once in while friends ask me who this staring guy is (ignorant fools) and I usually reply: "He used to be smiling until I placed the poster there! " [/lamejoke]

Tattoos aren't my thing, but I like the Coltrane image.
Miles is just scary-looking. As he is/was in life. He looks strung out on heroin in that pic.

Large pupils = small irises = lack of relax drugs

which also explains

Redeeming quality is that although it's a pic of a strung out junkie, he sure could "blow that horn".
Which could be quoted in conversation while you have those women at crotch level.

No doubt Miles had a sketchy lifestyle, but I think what they did for this particular photograph was use a flash in a dark room, to surprise his pupils... maybe?... maybe not...

Nice tattoo. great art.
However, I would be horrified to have that on my body. I think it's even worse where you have it. I thought it would be smaller on your calf but on your thigh? and those faces... it just doesn't click for me as what i would want on me. i think if i had one each on my arm, it would be better.

1. Most people who regret their tattoos regret them because they aren't good quality, not because they didn't want to be tattooed any more. Many who get tattoos removed get the same area tattooed again with something else. (Somebody did a survey on this a couple of years back.)
2. How would you know? How do you know he didn't think about this for years before doing it?
3. "Questionable"? Who cares? It's not your body. The only person who has to like it is its owner, and I bet he does.
Samurai, great ink. (Not my style, but superbly done!)

I think they usually tattoo over it because it is cheaper than having it removed.

Oh, for sure, most people who aren't satisfied with their tattoos get coverups.
But I'm talking about those who get them removed. Even a lot of them get new ink. Many save money by not having them removed 100% -- they have them lightened with a laser by maybe 80% and then tattoo over it.

Well back to that Tattoo in the pic. I think the ONE face looked really nice, the two together looks cluttered.
Not to mention it would have looked a lot nicer on your arm and not next to your nuts. I mean wearing shorts you'll only see half of a guys face sticking out.
Plus if a girlfriend is down there she'll pretty much have some dude looking at her in the face while she does her thing.

I think that tattoos that poke out from clothes look hot.
As for tattoos that offend the GF... nothing can beat the green, dagger-impaled severed head of Osama Bin Laden my piercer has on his chest... his ex-GF used to complain about how she'd wake up and see... that!

I think just the two faces looks kind of awkward.
You should get a couple other artists tattooed all the way around your calf. Kind of like a sleeve around your calf down to above your knee.
Jaco, Brubeck, Bill Evans, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Art Blakey, Chick Corea, whoever has influenced you the most.
