Now what are the best shops for buying Mac stuff online in Europe ? I'm sick of paying waaay too much in local stores. I'm not really talking about Macs but I'm talking about things like new hard drives, ram, peripherals etc. And US-based stores are no option because there's always the (big) risk of paying up to 30% extra in import duties. Where do you European mac users buy your stuff ?

Most of the 'extra' (RAM, Drives etc.) stuff is just generic 'PC' equipment. I have got all the addintons I have made to my system from my local PC discount store (http://www.microdirect.co.uk) over the counter without a problem.

Yeah, I know that hard drives and RAM don't matter, but I'm looking more precisely for stuff like Newertech batteries and slotload optical drives. I want to upgrade my powerbook that's why I'm asking (got a thread about it in the PowerBook forum).

here's what you do. find someone that's planning on visiting your country. have them buy what you need at the prices we have here. negotiate a terms of exchange with that person and once they arrive complete the transaction and give them a small finders fee, dinner, or some other form of compensation.

it's probably not worth it on small items, but for big ticket items, is definitely worth it.
