The first thing I want to do is thank MacNN and everybody in the forums for helping me with my Tibook 500 these last few months. Even if you did not post in my threads, I may have read some of your posts to other people's problems.

So basically, Panther was not so good for me. I thought Panther itself was wonderful. It was even snappy! This is not so bad as my workplace has finally upgraded to a OSX environment. I could not tell you exactly what is wrong with my computer but I just have a gut instinct that I should stop messing with OSX on it. I just don't have the time. Since I am into other things other than spending oodles of time at home and have ceased doing almost all freelance work, this is not so bad. I actually did not lose anything vital. I backed up everything.

So actually, i'll be splitting time between my PC and OS9 for awhile. I am currently in the market for an upgrade! I have my eyes on the low-end G5 Powermac for $1499.

During these next few months I am deciding whether I should just wait until my 4 year anniversary in April (or atleast until January) and then get the best G5 I can afford. (or wait for the next powermac with Tiger installed on it)

Update: I actually put the Tibook in a case and under my desk. that pretty much signals i'm:

APU: Back in Windows

rather than back in OS9. This had to happen since some programs I use are not made for OS9 such as Firefox and Thunderbird and are made in Windows.

Actually, when do the rumors say Tiger is coming out? Am I looking at MWSF or spring 2005?

The apple tiger site says nothing...

I think the official word is "first half of 2005". I hope it means earlier than later, but read into that what you will.

I had to boot into OS9 on the weekend to fix up a ShrinkWrap image, holy smokes does that thing run fast on my suped-up G4. I still prefer Photoshop and Illustrator in 9.

It's funny how I've change since the early days of OS X. I now consider many of the things that I hated about OS X some of the best features now.

I still am a little upset about how the windows are handled by default, but nothing is perfect.

Quark 4.1, Photoshop 5 and Illustrator 8... those were the days.

I never did print, so no Quark for me. But BBEdit 5 and the other 2 are still loaded and running great. All those ancient PS plugins that'll never be carbonized, plus the weird way Ill 10 works with selections and the display bug that prevents chosen points from showing up make it a real pain.

At least Open Glide runs most old games.
