How cool is this? They release something new and the stock goes up instead of down.

I've got my "sell trigger" set at 50 (all 1000 shares), not bad since I bought it when it was below 13.

I'm such an idiot for not buying at $25. I figured it'd go up to maybe $30ish and then plateau out. I suspect that's what the Apple brass originally thought too, cuz quite a bit of insider stock was sold at $30.

Damn! And I sold at $36, right around the time Apple could not ship a G5 if their life depended on it.

It was so much easier for me to predict Apple stock values before the iPod.

Ah, well. It's still great news for Apple.

IIRC, capital gains tax is 15%, so around $32k after taxes.

Not including state income tax.

Well played, MacNStein!

The thing to remember folks is that it's a post-split $50. They never got near that until the late 90s tech boom.

I wanted to by AAPL back before college when it was at its all-time low (1998-ish, I think). I wanted to invest $1000. Had I sold it around the time it split, or shortly thereafter (before the crash), I would've made out like a bandit. But my mom wouldn't let me "throw my money away" like that. Bah.

I bout at 13 and sold at 26. Thought I was doing great-- made over a grand. Would've hung on, but I needed the cash.

I came it at $33.51 just a few months ago. I got 100 shares, and now I am debating on whether or not to sell now. Any advice on what to do?

I could make a fair bit here, but I just don't need it.

You know what? Screw all those investment assholes and what they said; they were very wrong. This music thing is huge, and it is only getting bigger.

Sit on it. The market in general isn't doing that great the last few months, and Apple is gaining despite it. If there's a good bull run here after the election, you'll be happy you kept it.

The only bull run will be if Bush wins. If Kerry wins, it'll go bear. Fast.

I bought at less than $20 and always intended to sell at $45. But I think I'll hang on to it a while longer and see where it goes. $55 would be nice and certainly looks possible.

Congrats MacN. The thing that keeps me from feeling any jealousy is the fact that you had 12+ grand to invest in the first place. It will be some time before my life allows me to make such purchases.

Nah, I've still got my 1.42 dualie, and it does everything I need to do. I'll probably get a G5 when they hit 3GHz, I can be patient.
